In March 2021 Gails Childcare Centre joined our Tui whanau.
Gails has also been a family-owned and operated childcare centre, opening in 1979. Their whanau-based philosophy and culture fit well with ours at Tui, so we were excited to have the team join us.
The centre is on a large site with extensive outdoor playgrounds, being integral to the philosophy of connecting our tamariki to nature.

The Early Learning Centre is a large villa (built by the first solicitor in Feilding in 1903), where our 2.5 to 6 year olds play and learn.
The Baby & Toddler Centre is a purpose-built building where we nurture and care for 0 to 2.5-year-olds.

Our two beautifully renovated villas are finished and open for enrolments.
Totara on the right is home to our 3-5 year olds with plenty of space, especially in the large playground with waterfall and rock pools.
Kowhai on the right is a lovely nurturing space for our younger tamariki from 0-2 years old, also with a large deck and plenty of outdoor space to enjoy.
The last stage is a new entry, office and large play space that joins the two villas together. We hope this space will be open from late January 2021.

At Gladstone Street we are committed to offering the best education and care for your child. Our primary care for infants and toddlers from your degree trained teachers is second to none, along with great teacher to child ratio will give your child a great sense of belonging and wanting to be in our Centre. We value free movement philosophy which means your child will not be strapped into any devices and allowed to physically develop in their own time, in their own way. Along with your child’s own bed, with quality linen, nappies, bibs, wipes and nutritious food prepared daily by our onsite chef (with morning and afternoon tea and a full cooked lunch), we are your one stop Centre.

Our commitment to our land, community and families are paramount, we wish to be as sustainable as possible, growing kai, learning how to be kaitiaki (guardians) of te whenua (the land). With reusable nappies, wipes, flannels for hands and faces and our own wet bag, our environmental footprint will be low, and your child will become an advocate for the environment.

As we are in close proximity to the CBD your child will be active within our neighbourhood.  We have connected with local businesses and we will have many walking trips and things to do.  Along with sessions of pilates and fun football, as a Centre our Kaupapa (philosophy) is to have the heart of the child, is central to all that we do.

Busy Bees Manchester Street

Welcome to Puddleducks Feilding – we have 3 centres in Feilding, both located within minutes to the town centre and local amenities. Feilding is where the Puddleducks journey began in 2000, in Manchester Street. Puddleducks believe in the community and our Directors, and many staff are all Feilding locals.

We are a purpose built, beautifully presented centre based in the middle of the Friendly Feilding township.

We cater for the ages of 0-6; providing quality care and education Monday to Friday 7.30-5.30. We are adjacent to Manchester Street School, a close walking distance from parks, the library, Makino aquatic centre and the town centre. Our children enjoy being able to embrace community experiences on a regular basis, especially Rural Day and the farmers market.

We have three spaces; Infants/Pateke, Toddlers/Whio and the Preschool/Ohanga; these spaces provide meaningful engaging learning opportunities, specifically for the ages of the children in the rooms. We have 90% qualified teachers who are passionate about providing quality learning experiences for our children.

Whanaungatanga is a core value in our centre; strong, reciprocal respectful relationships between children, parents/whanau and teachers is highly important to us. Through these relationships we build strong partnerships and effective communication avenues with our families and community; this we believe opens pathways and fosters continued learning for our children.

Both the Infants/Pateke and the Toddler/Whio classrooms have a strong emphasis on Primary Care Teaching; each child has a teacher who ensures that their daily needs and learning experiences are met. These key one on one relationships support children’s emotional well-being while developing a strong sense of belonging; which supports the latest research surrounding ‘Attachment Based’ theory and learning. Free-movement practice is embedded throughout the Infants/Pateke room philosophy, interweaving with their underpinning values of children having the opportunity to reach milestones unassisted.

The Preschool/Ohanga space facilitates multiple learning experiences for the varied ages of children within the rooms. We nurture and extend their curiosities about the world around them, acknowledging that each child has their own set of skills and meaningful experiences to contribute to their learning. A Fun@Four learner ready programme that extends children’s learning dispositions, cultivates questioning and wonderment is offered to children when they turn four. We pride ourselves on our ‘Transition to School’ programme which has created strong partnerships and pathways with our local schools to create seamless transitions for our children.

Little Monkeys at Home - Fielding

Our Story

Little Monkeys at Home was born in 2017. Our vision was to establish a small, boutique, company that offered an abundance of support to our Educators. This would be through home visits, playgroups, trips, workshops, resources and gifts of appreciation. We knew that in our teaching practices, we didn’t want to get lost in technology, plastic toys and the latest crazes on the market for our precious pre-schoolers in care. What we did want was to focus on teaching sustainable practices and encouraging our Educators to use resources that are natural or focus on the community around them with their care children to support them in making sense of their world. Growing seasonal produce in the garden, wooden toys made by a local carpenter, creating learning resources out of natural products, bush walks and exploring nature, recognizing and celebrating cultural festivals, making mud pies in the back yard and building forts with blankets on rainy days were all part of what we inspired to create and teach.

Little Monkeys at Home Vision

Little Monkeys at Home, strive to provide quality education and equitable learning opportunities, removing barriers to ensure that each child reaches their potential.

Little Monkeys at Home Values

Our teaching and learning is based around the following values:

  • Child centred
  • Innovative and professional Educators
  • Collaborative relationships
  • Community focused
  • Stimulating environment

Little Monkeys at Home Philosophy

  • At Little Monkeys at Home, we believe that children bring with them prior experience and knowledge and we have been entrusted to build upon each child’s uniqueness.
  • We acknowledge the importance of collaborative relationships between whānau, Kaioko, children, Educators and the wider community and strive to provide an

Makino Kindergarten

Welcome to Ruahine Makino Kindergarten, a community of learners valuing all relationships and supporting children in their learning goals.

At Makino, we foster strong and respectful relationships with tamariki and whānau, with tamaiti being supported by their key pouako as they transition into kindergarten and develop a sense of belonging. Everybody is welcome into our Makino whānau and we acknowledge and celebrate that every tamaiti and whānau are unique and bring individual strengths.

Makino Pouako are a collaborative and supportive team who show flexibility, ensuring consistency and a team approach to positively supporting the learning of all tamariki. We foster children's natural curiosity and concepts of literacy, numeracy and science through a wealth of stimulating resources and spontaneous and planned activities.

We also have regular excursions and visits from musicians and storytellers and welcome involvement from whānau and our wider community who are willing to share their experiences with us.  Manaakitanga (hospitality) and respect underpins all our relationships.

Kaiako embrace our responsibility to be kaitiaki of our environment and learn alongside tamariki and whānau within our Enviroschools kaupapa and spacious environment.

Kaiako recognise the importance of positive transitions across settings so when it is time to say goodbye, tamariki and whānau are supported with transition into kura as pouako accompany tamariki on weekly visits into the classroom, sharing learning with the new-entrant kaiako to support the transition.

Ruahine Makino Kindergarten is open Monday to Friday, 8.30am - 2.30pm throughout the year, except statutory holidays. A Kindy Club operates during our association term breaks as we recognise some parents may struggle to find alternative care - ask at the kindergarten for details.

Three, four and five year old's may attend our kindergarten up to 30 hours at no charge, a fee of $2.50 (inclusive of GST) is in place for tamariki under 3 years of age - ask our Head Teacher for a copy of our Terms of Trade.

Country Kindy

Welcome to Country Kindy Do you ever catch yourself saying “Back when I was young…” about your childhood memories? Do you want your child to have space to learn and play?

We are located on 3.5 spacious acres, between Palmerston North and Feilding. We offer a unique country environment, where children have space to learn and explore at their own pace. We encourage the children to develop their own working theories and self-evaluating risk (with supervision) whilst learning important skills, so they can become confident and competent learners for the future.

COUNTRY KINDY has been purpose-built to meet the needs of the children, the teaching team and the animals. The children can explore the inside area and discover the well-equipped dramatic play, construction, discovery, art, writing/games and puzzles areas, just to name a few. We also have a large kitchen and dining area where we, as a family, sit down for all meals. We offer a large children’s bathroom and nappy changing area, where we are happy to help your child with their toileting needs, and peaceful sleeping room facilities, if your child requires a sleep.

The 650m2 outside playground offers a complete grass experience, with moveable equipment allowing the children to be creative in their play. There is a sandpit, a dirtpit, carpentry tables, a vegetable garden and a bike track, offering plenty of fun activities for your child to be involved in.

COUNTRY KINDY is a working farm. The children visit the farmyard every afternoon, whether it is sunny or raining. This allows your child to assist with the feeding and well-being of our pets and livestock. We want your child to be confident around animals so they can learn about caring and have empathy towards all living things.  We also want your child to understand the different life cycles; for insects, plants, animals and seasons. For example, they may watch animals being born and they will learn the different functions of animals as livestock. And then we have our pets which the children love to handle and feed, we also farewell our pets when they die. They will also be able to watch a storm roll in over the paddocks or along the Ranges. We believe these hands-on skills will aide in preparing them for life.

Eden Christian Kindergarten

Eden Christian Kindergarten aims to provide outstanding early childhood education and related family and community support, in a loving Christian environment that cares for and empowers the children and families of Feilding and our surrounding rural community.

Our Philosophy

Eden Christian Kindergarten is underpinned by our belief in the Bible and our love of God. Our practice is guided by Te Tiriti O Waitangi and Te Whariki, (our early childhood curriculum), as we walk alongside our tamariki (children) and their whanau (family) to grow strong foundations for life.

We will provide meaningful and enjoyable experience that develop strong, capable, resourceful learners, igniting children's passions, and inspiring a lifelong love of learning.

Our tamariki and their whanau will feel loved, cared for and valued for who they are, and be confident in contributing within our community. We empower tamariki to have a strong sense of their own identity and culture, explore their capabilities and potential, and appreciate that we are all unique and precious to God.

We support children to develop their social and emotional awareness and empower them to be confident communicators. We encourage them to be kind, caring and respecful of themselves, each other, and the environment.

Te Kōhanga Reo

The kōhanga reo movement is a unique initiative based on total immersion in Māori language and values with the aim of passing on Māori culture to future generations.

Kōhanga reo emphasise the revitalisation of the culture through te reo Māori and are dependent on the active participation of the whole whānau. The kaupapa of kōhanga reo aims to strengthen whānau capabilities in cultural, social, economic, spiritual and political matters. Education, health and wellbeing are inherent within all aspects of the kaupapa. The prime focus is the whānau – its collective development, growth, accountability and wellbeing set within a Māori cultural context.

Kōhanga reo do not regard tamariki in isolation, but as important members of the whānau. The kōhanga reo philosophy is that tamariki will benefit when whānau successfully operate according to the kaupapa. Tamariki are an integral part of whānau development.

The following key goals are the foundation of te kōhanga reo kaupapa established in 1982:

  • total immersion in te reo Māori me ōna tikanga in daily operations
  • whānau decision-making, management and responsibility
  • accountability
  • health and wellbeing of mokopuna and whānau.

The key goals of te kōhanga reo assure that there will be:

  • security in te reo Māori
  • a supportive, caring environment for mokopuna
  • whānau (collective) sharing of responsibilities, knowledge and expertise

Feilding Playcentre

For over 75 years Feilding Playcentre has been offering a quality preschool programme for children aged 0 to 6 years. At Playcentre, parents come with their children to enjoy educational, stimulating and fun sessions run by trained parents. We also have two highly experienced supervisors on each session. Children receive lots of personal attention and develop friendships with the other children.

Parents enjoy the support and company of other parents. We promote and encourage the free adult education courses and workshops.

Our kids explore and discover, have fun and are creative with lots of different activities available to them at every session. This includes painting, water play, play dough, blocks, trains, dress up, sandpit, carpentry and music.

We cater well to babies (usually our little brothers and sisters) so that the whole family can come to Playcentre together. We also have a dedicated baby area with a couch for breastfeeding and a cot for babies to sleep in along with a range of baby play toys and play mats, high chairs and books.

Our fantastic outdoor area includes a large shaded sandpit with a multitude of diggers, buckets, spades and other implements. We have climbing boxes, slides and swings as well as ride on toys, balls, a veggie garden and often set up confidence courses for the children.

Animals at the centre include goldfish, chooks and budgies. We have regular visits from animals such as lambs, rabbits and baby chicks.

We provide the opportunity for you to take your children on excursions to places like the A & P show, Santa Cave, Coach House Museum, local parks and more.

At Playcentre we believe that play is the central activity of childhood and through play young children are like little scientists, learning about themselves and their world.

We love to provide our children with the opportunity to decide for themselves what to do and when to do it. This does not mean a free-for-all; we have limits and the high adult: child ratio ensures the children are well supported in their play. The environment and equipment is arranged and selected by responsible adults in such a way that it is safe, stimulating and promotes all round development.

This promotes confidence, feelings of success, self-direction, independence, discovery, problem solving, decision making, creativity, opportunities to learn from mistakes, self-discipline plus a lot more. Our Playcentre caters for each child’s individuality, allowing each child to grow and develop at his or her own rate, pursuing individual interests and developing individual skills.

Many of our children also attend kindergarten or other child care facilities. Once your child is over 2.5 years of age, with the mutual agreement of the session co-ordinators and parent, your child may be left on session without you there.

Our fees are low and you only pay fees once no matter how many children are coming to Playcentre in your family. Parking is easy and we are in a handy location.

Nau mai, haere mai and welcome to Waituna West Playcentre  Playcentre is unlike any other early childhood education organisation. At Playcentre, both children and their parents / caregivers attend.

At Playcentre children get the opportunity to learn and explore in a fun and safe environment.

The curiosity and creativity of our tamariki is nurtured in a way that allows them to learn about themselves and their world.

Your child will be given a chance to explore, create, climb, read, sing, experiment, play music, wear costumes, have their face painted (or do it themselves!), garden, do carpentry with real tools, bake and cook, build sandcastles, swing, slide, dance, spend time in nature and get messy.

The activities change every day. Playcentre parents all bring different skills, interests, and cultural backgrounds to add to the rich learning environment.

We welcome families with children aged 0 – 6 years. Mixed age play allows your children to engage with others older and younger than themselves. Pre-schoolers learn how to communicate, share and negotiate with empathy for their younger peers.
