YOUR LOCAL EARLY LEARNING & CARE CENTRE

Blending solid experience with fresh thinking, Miniwhais is an exciting childcare facility for Mangawhai families. Based on a promise that, ‘happy kids learn’, Miniwhais values freedom within safe limits. Across ages 0-6, your child will enjoy nature on the doorstep! The lake and forest setting provides an incredible platform for learning.

OUR PHILOSOPHY

At Miniwhais, we believe the more that technology develops, the more we need real connections with people and nature.  Our outdoor environment is framed by a lake and the breathtaking Brynderwyn Ranges, creating a sanctuary like setting, where children are happily learning in an unrushed and unhurried manner.  

Children are offered opportunities to learn though play and connecting with nature, each other and their teachers, exploring the world around them, the people within it, our differences and their role as our worlds next generation of caretakers.   

Miniwhais overall environment facilitates children to develop their own identity, having a place where they belong and where their wellbeing is paramount.  Children’s time at Miniwhais is the beginning of their unique life long journey in being socially competent and capable contributors to society in our fast changing world, who are inquisitive, imaginative, risk takers, resilient, and have a love of learning and for the environment. 

Miniwhais is not only a place of learning for children, but also a place where the teachers and families learn in partnership.  We place great importance on the connections we have with the children and whanau, learning about each other’s cultures, beliefs, aspirations, and from each others knowledge and skills.  

At Miniwhais, Te Whaariki, the New Zealand Early Childhood Curriculum and the Early Childhood Regulations underpin our philosophy and everyday practices, which weave our connections with each other and the environment, creating positive learning outcomes for our children. 

Children will be empowered from their time at Miniwhais.  They will leave Miniwhais to start their next journey with a deeper understanding of the world around them and the people within it, having developed knowledge, skills, attitudes and dispositions that will support their best life.

Here at Mangawhai Kindergarten, we provide an environment that empowers children to learn.

Our highly experienced teaching team work with children to develop their interests and encourage, inspire and nurture their love of learning.

Mangawhai Kindergarten are proud of their transition to school programme, making this process as seamless as possible for children.

Mangawhai Kindergarten has a strong bond with the local community.

Our kindergartens have early childhood qualified and registered teachers.  The teachers are dedicated to, and passionate about, early childhood education.  Each kindergarten has a head teacher plus teachers and support staff.  Quality learning programmes are based on the New Zealand Early Childhood Curriculum, Te Whãriki.
