Pepi  - Our nurturing Pepi Room (3 months-walking) is a safe, clean space ready for your child to explore. We have a beautiful area specifically set up for non-mobile babies. In this area you will find lots of age appropriate toys with different textures, sounds and movement with an amazing outdoor area.

Nursery - As they grow they will be able to walk away from the Pepi area to discover the different ways they can explore and test themselves. The beautiful wooden climbing frame is always a favourite for our newly crawling to explore. Your toddler will be able to move between the indoor and outdoor environment where they will play alongside children their own age. Our teachers set up daily experiences which make children curious to learn and try new things.

Toddler 2-3 - The Toddler Room has a calming sleeping space where your child will go to rest. The teachers will follow their individual routine from home and feedback to you daily.

Preschool 3-4 - As your child grows, they will become a member of our calming and nurturing preschool. In here your child will find a world to discover, they will be able to freely explore the toys, develop friendships and find the magic in learning.

Our Rooms

Little Wonders Rolleston has four separate rooms, enabling us to deliver safe, nurturing and age appropriate learning experiences for all our children.

Whakato

This safe, cosy and welcoming space is our nursery room for our youngest children, aged from 3 months.

Tamariki

Our tamariki are respected and trusted for their inner potential and celebrated for who they are and where they have come from. Education at Three Trees Learning Centre is a collaborative process. Tamariki, kaiako, whanau and the community constantly engage to reflect on the aspirations for all tamariki. Our environment is a place of beauty both inside and out. Our learning environment is enriched with love and the atmosphere is calm and nurturing. At Three Trees Learning Centre, we foster the tamariki’s innate tendency to seek connections with nature and other forms of life. This happens through taking learning out of the classroom, re-introducing the outdoors whilst enhancing all areas of their development through a natural discovery approach. We value the environment as a third teacher or an environmental steward. The tamariki enjoy the freedom of leading their own learning, exploring and discovering uninhibited in our environment.  Children learn most effectively when they are connecting deeply with nature through play experiences. This is about creating interactions with people and the places where they play, learning to care for nature and the world in which we live.  The concept of sustainability is introduced through experiential learning. Being outdoors in a natural setting enables children to develop a connection with the natural world that can lead to long-term environmental awareness and understanding as well as positive outcomes for their developing views of the world.

At Freckles we believe working with children in age groupings is most conducive to learning. The unique structure of our complimentary Nursery (3 months - 2 years), Preschool (2-3½ years) and Prep School (3½ - 5 years) rooms ensure learning opportunities are maximised.

Our learning programmes are designed to meet the needs of every child at each stage of their development, and to actively support and encourage robust learning dispositions.

Freckles is pleased to be offering parents up to 20 Hours FREE ECE for all 3, 4 and 5 year old children.

We are open 50 weeks of the year, Monday to Friday 7.30am to 6.00pm.

Both our Preschool and Nursery encourage children to take part in their own learning decisions. We have many learning opportunities on offer and a range of resources for the children to choose from themselves. The experiences on offer are based on the children’s current interests.

Art, puzzles, games, blocks…the list goes on! All of these are fun activities to share with friends in the outdoors. Our Nursery has a big open space which allows room to explore and develop relationships with the other children and teachers. They have their own outdoor playground which is very colourful, safe, and full of opportunities to develop their motor development. All experiences are based on the children’s interests and current skills.

In our Preschool we have many different areas set up for children based on their interests and needs. These areas include family corner, building and construction, music, science/puzzles and reading. Our home corner includes dress-ups, dolls, prams, beds, play food, a table and chairs for ‘eating’ at and a kitchen set-up. This is a very busy and loved area of play. Our building and construction area includes blocks, cars, trains and Duplo just to name a few activities. We love to do all sorts of creative art including messy play. Children love to get involved in water play, play dough and painting. Outside is exciting with a large sandpit, fort and play areas which are set up differently each day. Swings, challenge courses, balance beams, climbing boxes and slides are just a few examples of our outdoor exploration opportunities.

Infants (under 2's) - The Nursery

Our Nursery is a home-like modern lounge room which caters for infants under the age of 2. Our Nursery has been developed to create a sense of warmth and security from which our youngest children can begin to explore their world. Every child is valued and in order to ensure a successful start to your child’s education journey teachers will establish a relationship with you ensuring your child’s routine is similar to home and all their care-giving and emotional needs are met.

Young Children (2-6yrs) - Tamariki Nui

Our Tamariki Nui Room has a dedicated Art Studio as well as a variety of play and learning areas to meet the needs of the inquiring minds of our older children.

Transition to School Programme

Our Tamariki Nui Team are in the beginning stages of developing a Transition to School Programme. We are very grateful to have support from our local primary school and with the expertise of Kara and her Primary background and Emma and Hayleigh with their Early Childhood knowledge we are very excited to be developing a programme where tamariki are introduced to school concepts in a fun and inviting way, making their transition into the school environment much easier for them and their whānau.

At Kidsfirst Kindergartens West Rolleston, the fusion of Manawhenua values, Kidsfirst values, and Te Whariki principles has created a strong foundation for the building and landscape. The cultural history and heritage of the place, generously shared by Te Taumutu Runanga, have shaped the design and inspired the kindergarten's story. The warm and vibrant indoor environment offers diverse spaces that support and nurture children's learning, with carefully selected resources that stimulate creativity, imagination, inquiry, and wonder. The large windows allow tamariki to connect with the neighborhood and stay engaged with their surroundings. Connected to the building by a covered veranda, the expansive backyard features a variety of adaptable play areas, including grassy and barked spaces, gardens that provide produce for cooking sessions, and specially designed equipment to enhance physical growth and development. The immensely popular sandpit, accompanied by glacial boulders, extends to a rock river, gravel pit, and mud pit, providing ample opportunities for imaginative play and testing working theories.

Playcentre is unlike any other early childhood education organisation. At Playcentre, both children and their parents / caregivers attend.

At Playcentre children get the opportunity to learn and explore in a fun and safe environment.

The curiosity and creativity of our tamariki is nurtured in a way that allows them to learn about themselves and their world.

Your child will be given a chance to explore, create, climb, read, sing, experiment, play music, wear costumes, have their face painted (or do it themselves!), garden, do carpentry with real tools, bake and cook, build sandcastles, swing, slide, dance, spend time in nature and get messy.

The activities change every day. Playcentre parents all bring different skills, interests, and cultural backgrounds to add to the rich learning environment.

We welcome families with children aged 0 – 6 years. Mixed age play allows your children to engage with others older and younger than themselves. Pre-schoolers learn how to communicate, share and negotiate with empathy for their younger peers.

At Playcentre, families come together and lifelong friendships are formed.
