Creators Waipa

Our beautiful centre is situated on the campus of Waipa Christian School.

Our innovative early learning centre design allows our children to grow in creativity and empathy for one another. The hallmark of our centre is the strong relationships we form with families on a daily basis.

We believe that you can’t look at the child apart from their whanau, and when you enrol your child with us, you become part of our supportive community. A village that raises our children together.

Rosetown Preschool

OUR VISION

Rosetown Preschool is licensed for 35 children, including 20 under two years olds.  The children are in one of two groups, and they move from the Juniors to the Seniors at around 2 years, or when they are ready.

Our centre is a constantly developing and is a product of everybody’s commitment, and of how we work together to achieve our vision. It is important to us that the staff, the children and the children’s families are happy in our centre, and this is reflected in the way we do things. We want to be different, and to make a difference.

Here at Rosetown Preschool, we believe that every child deserves the best care and education possible. While they are with us, each child will be guided and supported by highly-skilled, caring and knowledgeable teachers who also take on board and implement the expertise of parents and extended families. By doing this, we intend to bring out the best in your child.

We aim to nurture your child as they grow and develop and encourage their natural desire to make sense of the world around them, giving them the opportunity to acquire knowledge through active exploration within a small community of learners. We strongly believe in equality, so irrespective of age, ability, gender, or ethnicity, all children are valued members of our Early Learning Centre which cherishes the individuality of each and every child.

Te Awamutu - Te Awamutu

BestStart Te Awamutu

BestStart Te Awamutu early learning centre is open weekdays from 7.30am to 5.30pm, only closing for public holidays. We have two specialised learning areas to support the changing developmental needs of our tamariki as they grow as well as a project room for indepth inquiry learning.

Nurturing the seeds of our community

We nurture our community’s youngest, supporting them in their growth and allowing each child to blossom in their own unique way. Children learn through exploration, alongside each other and within the community.

Here at BestStart Te Awamutu you will find a welcoming, warm atmosphere where whānau and the community play an important part in centre life. We love to celebrate all the cultures and acknowledge their importance. From Matariki celebrations to movie nights, visits from our local police to exploring at the park, we never miss an opportunity to make connections that help our children grow strong and proud of who they are and where they are from.

Our tamariki are nurtured as they make connections and establish their roots, getting ready for learning. In partnership with whānau, we tend to their needs, embracing their uniqueness and the diversity they bring. Our families have so much to offer and we embrace their skills and wisdom, incorporating their insights and knowledge into our learning programme.

Community connections - We make connections with local community groups, landmarks and schools.  We venture into our local community, absorbing the abundance of learning opportunities sprinkled throughout our town. We learn about our local people and places such as Ueneku at the museum, the famous Te Awamutu rose gardens, the Walk of Fame, as well as our local maunga and awa. Our tamariki are interested in the world around them and curious to learn more. They develop their confidence when out and about, seeing Te Awamutu as their place.

Supporting each other - Our new community room is a place for community events such as parent workshops, playgroups as well as providing a quiet place to connect with our families. We have a special relationship with our local Plunket Services where we share parenting information and support local families.  As a centre we support community groups and charities, so tamariki learn the pleasure of giving back.

Our great outdoors - We have a fantastic newly renovated outdoor area that our tamariki just love. Not only is it a place to have fun, it is also very important for physical development and growing minds to discover more every day. Our tamariki actively explore their new playground with more open space to play. They enjoy the natural space, as they climb, balance, explore and support one another.  With the addition of our new water play feature, our tamariki are empowered to extend their learning as they embark on scientific investigation within the sandpit and surrounding area.  These open-ended opportunities enable tamariki to explore their working theories and create their own understandings of the world around them.

Ready for school - Preparing our tamariki for school is as important to us as it is to our families. Our connections with local schools and our Be School Ready initiative helps to prepare our tamariki for this next step. We have parent information evenings, information on local schools and visit the primary schools to make sure everyone feels confident when beginning the next stage in the learning journey.

Proud of who we are - Our tamariki love where they're from and really want to add value to our small town of Te Awamutu. We embrace our culture, the land and what it really means to be part of our Te Awamutu community.

Learning areas - In our vibrant rooms our tamariki are empowered in their learning.  As they grow, they reach for the sun, making discoveries and develop their ideas about life and their place in the world. We have 2 specialised learning areas to support the changing developmental needs of our tamariki as they grow. We also have a separate project room which gives us the space and freedom for in-depth investigation to support our tamariki as they prepare for school.

When our tamariki leave for the next stage of their learning journey they are strong, kind and connected. They know they are valued and have an understanding of the wider world and the important role they have in it. They are proud to be a part of our wonderful community.

Creating Lifelong Learners

Tamariki natural curiosity is the foundation for exploration and growth. They explore to make sense of the world, develop and have fun. Tamariki start their lives by exploring the world around them. They learn through everything they see, touch, hear, smell, taste and do.

Through play, nga tamariki engage in active learning and exploration. They learn more about their interests and about the world. Most importantly, they learn how to adapt to a changing world. Play helps us remain creative and provokes our imagination.

Our People

Our team at Kids at Home is a dedicated team of individuals who have been chosen for their commitment to provide quality, educational in-home childcare. Kids at Home’s management team also consists of experienced Early childhood professionals and others who have worked within other roles in ECE for many years. We are proud of our positive workplace culture which can be felt as soon as you walk through our office doors!

Playgroups

Playgroup provides your child with a rich learning setting that encourages your child to build a foundation for future learning. Our groups provide your child with the opportunity to mix and make lifelong friends with other tamariki

Music Groups

Music groups provide your child the opportunity to participate in singing, dancing and experiment with musical instruments.

Music is an important part of any child care program. Listening to music, singing, playing musical instruments, and moving to music are all activities that support tamariki development.

Outings and Excursions

Visiting Teachers plan trips to events or places of interest in the community such as fire stations, the zoo, museum, parks etc. (Whanau and friends are welcome to attend).

High Standard of Care

Our Teachers and Educators pride themselves on the quality of care and education each child receives.

We do not limit ourselves to one teaching method or philosophy because we understand that your child is unique. We believe that each child has their own learning style and personality.

Kids at Home’s Visiting Teachers are fully qualified and certificated ECE Teachers with a current practicing certificate from the Teaching Council; our handpicked Teachers have many years of experience and expertise between them.

Kids at Home’s Visiting Teachers support Educators with regular visits and planning for education and development of tamariki.

Montessori Little Hands

Situated in the heart of Te Awamutu, in a beautiful character house, on 309 Rutherford St (Off Bank St., opposite Young St.).

Our centre is dedicated to delivering an authentic, genuine Montessori programme.

‘The hands are the instruments of man’s intelligence’ – Maria Montessori

We called our school Montessori Little Hands because of this quote. The hands are linked to brain development and the materials used within our school are manipulative, preparing the child for writing from day one. The early formative years are the important foundation for the child’s life and we take our role in this seriously. The child is a competent being not a blank slate. Character building and a love of learning are developed that will stay with the child through life. And it all begins with the little hands.
