Counties Manukau Kindergarten Association

We are a community based not-for-profit organisation, proud to be providing quality and affordable early childhood education in the Franklin and Counties Manukau areas for over 60 years. Just over the fence from Conifer Grove School is Lollipops Takanini, a warm and welcoming early childhood centre offering top quality care and education. A home away from home for local children, our beautifully designed, purpose built centre is a hub of inspiration and activity. Staffed by a passionate team of dedicated teachers, we support children to grow into happy, confident, competent and capable learners.

Our Philosophy

Here at ­­­Lollipops Takanini we believe that each child is unique / he ahurei te tamaiti and has a combination of abilities.

We strive to provide an environment where all children’s cultures are respected, celebrated and they can develop to their full potential as unique individuals who are confident in their sense of belonging. Our cultural values are underpinned and influenced by our understanding of tikanga and the Treaty of Waitangi.

It is our aim to provide the foundations of a developmentally appropriate Early Childhood Education programme which is underpinned by the principles and strands of Te Whariki.

We are dedicated to ensuring that parent/whanau involvement is encouraged in all decision making, in particular, guidance when seeking goals and aspirations for their children. It is our aspiration to ensure that these relationships are respectful, reciprocal and responsive. Therefore, we are committed to creating a meaningful learning community for our children and their families.

We strive to consistently promote a holistic approach to the health and wellbeing of all children and their families. This is achieved through developing strong relationships with each other as a team, with children their families and the wider community. Lollipops Takanini has four separate spaces, enabling us to deliver safe, nurturing and age appropriate learning experiences for all our children.

Fantail Room

This space is specially for our under 1s.

Tui Room

This is home away from home for our 1 – 2 year olds.

Kiwi Room

This space caters for our children aged 2 to 3.5

Kakapo Room

Our Kakapo Room is where our 3.5 to 5 year olds get ready to transition to the next phase of their learning journey, big school!
