Dream Home-Based in Gulf Harbour

About the Educator:

Hi! I’m Kerry. Over the past 10 years, I’ve been caring for children in my home. Before this chapter, I worked as a preschool teacher and a Nanny. I cherish taking children out into the community and social settings, encouraging them to explore nature and engage in messy play. I’m passionate about home-based childcare due to the nurturing environment it provides. As a result, the children I care for quickly become part of my extended family. Speaking of family, I have two wonderful children, an 11-year-old boy and a 10-year-old girl, as well as a supportive husband.

Why choose Dream?

At Dream, we are passionate about children being cared for in a home environment. If you love Home-Based but don't want someone living in your home, like an Au Pair, and find that a Nanny is not affordable, then a Home-Based Educator may be the perfect option for you. As the premium agency offering Home-Based Childcare in Auckland, we prioritise the comfort and well-being of your child.

Our Dream Home-Based Educators provide nurturing care in their own homes. Accommodating a maximum of four children under six years old. Importantly, we limit the number of children under the age of two to two.

Why should I enroll my child in Home-Based Childcare?

Research shows that smaller group settings foster strong, responsive relationships among children, nurturing essential skills like sharing, trust, and kindness. With Home-Based Childcare, your child's routine seamlessly transitions into the Educator's home. This offers your child invaluable real-life experiences, from cooking and shopping to exploring parks, attending music classes, and more.

Furthermore, all our Educators follow the Dream Education Programme, ensuring a consistent and quality educational experience. It's worth noting that Dream Educator is licensed by the Ministry of Education, reflecting our commitment to meeting and exceeding educational standards.

Fees, Charges and Funding for Home-Based Childcare

Our Educators operate as Private Independent Contractors, setting their own fees and handling all financial arrangements with parents. Fees typically range from $9 to $12 per child, per hour, depending on experience, qualifications, location, and any optional extras provided. This flexibility in pricing allows families to choose a service that best fits their budget without compromising on quality or care.

Optional extras may include:

  • Excursions and outings
  • Transport pick ups/drop offs
  • Sunscreen, food and nappies
  • Specific teaching resources such as a dance or music teacher
  • Extension programmes

20 Hours ECE

20 hours of ECE is available through our Dream Educators. This entitles every 3 and 4 year old child enrolled with a Dream Educator to receive up to 20 hours ECE education per week. As a parent/caregiver you may claim a maximum of 6 hours per day, and up to 20 hours per week across all services.

Children enrolled at more than one ECE Service

Parents are able to split their 20 ECE hours between two or more ECE services or kōhanga reo.

Dream Home-Based in Gulf Harbour

About the Educator:

Hi I'm Katie.

Throughout my career, I’ve dedicated myself to caring for young children. Initially, I worked in full-day care centers in England. Later, I served as a Nanny, gaining valuable experience and insights. Eventually, I transitioned to a role as a Home-Based Educator. In every setting, my passion lies providing the best care and abundant learning opportunities for young children. I firmly believe in treating them with respect and offering them opportunities to develop resilience, independence, and a wealth of knowledge and holistic skills that will benefit them throughout life. When children are in my care, they become part of my extended family.

Why I’m an Educator:

Believing that children learn best through play and relationships, Lisa fosters an environment that supports and encourages this approach. She tailors activities to each child’s individual needs and interests. Enthusiastic about reading, music, and dance, Lisa incorporates these into frequent activities at her home. Using their location to advantage, she takes the children on regular outings to the beach, playgroups, playgrounds, and the library. Beyond local adventures, Lisa enjoys exploring Auckland’s attractions like the Zoo and MOTAT with them.

The Harbour Haven Early Learning

You can find us in Gulf Harbour, nestled on the water's edge of Fairway Bay Marina.

We pride ourselves on being a safe, healthy and holistic Early Learning Centre for children aged 0-5 years.

Through respectful teaching practices, we are passionate about fostering children’s wellbeing with a focus on their emotional, physical, mental and social development. We believe that it’s important for children to feel a sense of belonging both here and within our local community so, you will no doubt see us out and about on local excursions, exploring the beautiful Marina (our very own backyard!).

We offer 3 age-appropriate classrooms to ensure your child receives meaningful care as well as personalised learning opportunities that best suits their age and stage of development.

At The Harbour Haven, children benefit from the large open play spaces as there is plenty of room to run freely and explore but we know that sometimes children need a quiet space to feel calm and regulated. Therefore, our talented teachers are passionate about creating intentional play spaces that feel safe and homely, these are tailored to the interests and needs of children at the time.

At The Harbour Haven, we are proud to be a locally owned and operated early learning centre, deeply connected to the beautiful Hibiscus Coast community we call home. As local owners with a wealth of experience, knowledge and passion between us in Early Childhood Education - we understand the values, culture, and needs of our families, and we’re committed to creating a space where children, families, and staff feel a genuine sense of belonging and connection.

We are dedicated to fostering a calm, welcoming environment that reflects the beauty of our marina surroundings. The Harbour Haven is a place where children feel safe, supported, and loved - encouraging them to explore, grow, and thrive in their own unique way.

We provide morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea for children of all ages and our weekly menu is packed with all of the goodness our little people need. When we tell you that our onsite-chef is amazing, we really do mean it! The children are big fans of her food and so are we! Our families are often greeted in our reception area by the delicious smells of our home cooked meals, made completely from scratch. When we can, we try to leave samples out for parents to taste test during afternoon pick up times.

At mealtimes, children come together to eat at the table, doing so allows them to learn great skills like taking turns, learning to serve themselves and respectful eating rituals. Our teachers also encourage positive conversations about where our food comes from and making important healthy eating choices.

Our menu is displayed in centre and we offer options that accommodate for dietary/allergy requirements. We know it can be tricky to serve “different” food to children with allergies, we don’t want children to feel excluded from their peers, so our chef creates the same meal but provides an allergen free one to the children who need this. This way they feel that they are being served the same as everyone else.

Come and join the adventure…....

Inspired by our beautiful marina surroundings, we combine the freedom of play with nurturing care, giving every child the wind in their sails to embark on their own unique journey.

We are open Monday to Friday, 7.30am-5.30pm. You can book a visit on Kindello but you are also welcome to pop in and visit us, especially if you are in the neighbourhood already!

We know that choosing the right Early Learning centre for your child is a big decision! It’s important to find one that works for your whole family.
