Our passionate team in Newmarket Kids Cove is led by Dolly, as the Centre Manager.

Dolly, a passionate childcare teacher brings in a rich mix of experience, youth and passion

Dolly’s personal philosophy is her belief in the individuality of each child — “in their uniqueness, children lead us in providing them with resources and facilitating an environment that best encourages them to flourish; from energetic infants, to imaginative story tellers on to the path of discovering themselves, their capabilities and their place in society. Love, Respect and Trust, especially when experienced from a young age, go a long way in making confident and compassionate members of the community.”

“Ko te ahurei o te tamaiti aroha o tatou mahi.” (Let the uniqueness of the child guide our work).

Also at Kids Cove, we understand that our educators are the key element in delivering the Centre philosophy and care/learning experiences for our children

BestStart Epsom

At BestStart Epsom we know children have an innate desire for curiosity and exploration. It is this natural curiosity that encourages children to explore, question, and wonder, and by doing so they learn. They are learning about themselves, about their peers and the world around them. Some want to explore with their minds while others explore in more physical ways. We provide engaging and rich learning experiences that nurture this curiosity at every age and stage of your child's development.

Our Tui Room is a calm, nurturing space for our youngest learners. We develop loving, responsive relationships with our children (tamariki) and our practice in this room respects children’s autonomy, competence and capabilities. The team take the time to understand each child’s needs which allows the child’s care routines to be supported and their interests stimulated through many fun and exciting activities.  Developing into curious and bright toddlers, the teachers provide stimulation and sensory activities suited to each child’s age and stage. While it may look like play. children are busy building social skills so they understand how their world works alongside others.  The teaching team plan, support and educate our curious group through an individual focus to allow children to grow and learn at their own pace.

Our Kiwi Room turns terrific toddlers into competent, school-ready discoverers.  Working in groups on projects, our incredible preschoolers are becoming their own people, and discovering their own interests. Our Be School Ready initiative is carefully designed to support children’s next big learning step when they move to primary school. We support parents and children as they develop the skills and attitudes for being a lifelong learner.  We connect with them regularly to ensure children are familiar with staff and the transition to school is streamlined.

Our success in nurturing curious minds comes from children, families and teachers working together. Using NZ’s curriculum Te whāariki guides the children’s learning and development, independence and readiness for school. BestStart Epsom is committed to holistic health and has a Heart Foundation Gold Award for healthy eating.

We are committed to being a progressive and responsive leader in early-childhood education. We do this by enhancing our services, investing in our people, developing our support structure and continuously improving the educational outcomes and experiences of our children, families and the communities we serve.

  • 18,000 families use BestStart services annually.
  • We have over 270 centres nationwide located from Whangarei to Invercargill.

  • We provide a two-year Advice and Guidance Programme for all recently certified teachers, providing further mentoring and training. This gives strong support for teachers from provisional registration to full teacher registration with the NZ Teachers Council.
  • We regularly spend around $4 million on teacher training per annum.
