Our philosophy

Magic Garden is a place where relationships matter. We believe in developing reciprocal relationships embracing families and whãnau. We value the wealth of knowledge that families and whãnau bring and share, and we join them in partnership to enable children to grow and reach their full potential. We value the unique place of Māori amongst the multiple cultures in our community and respect and celebrate these cultural heritages and identities.

​The New Zealand Early Childhood Curriculum, Te Whãriki guides and inspires our work with children and adults. We value ongoing learning, so we enrich our thinking and practice with the approaches of Reggio Emilia, Magda Gerber/RIE™ and current theory. We are committed and passionate about professional learning and shared team understandings to enhance our practices and uphold a high standard of teaching. We believe children’s learning is fostered through a socio-cultural, emergent curriculum. Our Priorities for Learning statement shows we value self-initiated investigations, experimentation, social competence, creative expression, and foundation skills for literacy and numeracy.

Passionate family owned daycare centre

A beautiful 120 year old villa, modernised and converted into an amazing Early Learning Centre. Two separate cottages for our pre-schoolers. A huge expansive playground with real grass, natural resources, fresh air and cows as our only neighbours.... giving it a real country feel.  ​

Owned by a family, not a big corporate, the team are dedicated to putting your children's well-being and  learning outcomes at the forefront of everything they do.  The setting is warm and nurturing, like an extension of home.

We are proud to have good quality teacher:child ratios and small group sizes, meaning your child has more one-on-one time with our passionate and highly experienced teachers.

​The qualified and friendly staff have created a home away from home atmosphere at our purpose-built childcare centre in Northcross. We are handily located close to Browns Bay and also in close proximity to the motorway on-ramps.  Our playground provides a safe and stimulating environment where children can have fun and challenge themselves every day. 

Quality education and care is ensured at The Junction.  We achieve this through our incredibly passionate teaching team who deliver individualised play-based learning that incorporates the needs, interests and culture of each child in our care.
