Located in the heart of the beach community, Kidsfirst Kindergartens Sumner is situated right next to Sumner School, emphasizing the importance of community and whanau (extended family) in their program. The dedicated team of teachers at the kindergarten are attentive to the interests, strengths, and capabilities of children aged 2-5 years. The Ngahere room is adorned with vibrant murals depicting the natural landscape, while group activities take place at Tuawera/Cave Rock, allowing children to have a voice in shaping the program. The kindergarten values and supports each child's individuality, fostering a sense of belonging and recognizing play as valuable "real work." With various play areas, children have the freedom to explore, engage, and choose from a wide range of resources. The beautiful and expansive backyard offers grassy spaces, native and exotic trees that showcase the changing seasons, an edible garden, areas for physical challenges, and specially designed equipment to promote physical growth and development. Set in a stunning coastal setting, children can engage in hands-on exploratory play, surrounded by sand, mud, water, flowers, and foliage.

Pebbles Preschool opened in April 2010 and operates in a beautifully renovated villa.

Our inside environment offers 3 separate rooms for the 3 different developmental ages and our outside environment has 3 separate play areas which can be opened up to offer children the opportunity of playing alongside different age groups and meeting up with siblings and friends.

Pebbles Montessori Sumner opened in February 2014 and operates from a beautifully renovated villa in Sumner.

We embrace the Montessori philosophy as well as our early childhood curriculum Te Whariki.

Our teachers are early childhood trained or in training and are Montessori trained or experienced.
