Co Kids Christchurch
Located in Pilgrim Place off Moorhouse Avenue, Christchurch the centre is licenced for 75 children.
Walk in and feel the charm of a community impassioned with an ethos that comes from the heart!
You will be greeted into Co Kids with a smile, encouraging a reassuring confidence that you will be sharing in a warm, caring community. Kindness and warm relationships are at the core of our practice.
We welcome you into a bright, spacious environment where children wildly explore. Opportunities for children to just ‘be’, allowing time to forge creatively and imaginatively throughout their day are encouraged within the curious spaces and nooks of our community. Inquisitive minds have the time and freedom to invite questions, conversations and imaginative trails of inquiry.
Two main play-spaces alleviate the anxieties that multiple room transitions create. The safe spaces offer unique areas for siblings to share in their day; older children to help in the care of the younger children; younger children to watch and emulate actions from their charismatic older peers; and where all children and teachers share in a community of empathy and kindness.
We enjoy a unique extra indoor space which allows for outdoor actvities to happen even in the worst of weather.

Sydenham Community Preschool
Welcome – Haere mai
The centre has two areas, the under two’s, and the over two’s. We have a very well resourced outdoor area that provides a large variety of equipment for the children to explore and challenge themselves.
In our core curriculum the children have constant opportunities to participate in a wide range of activities.
Art media, painting, collage, puzzles, play dough, water play, climbing equipment, carpentry, literacy/books, science/maths/blocks, music, gross and fine motor development, language, drama and Te Reo Maori.
As part of the curriculum the teachers provide challenging and interesting activities that support the children’s individual needs and their personal interests. Our programme is based on the goals of Te Whaariki, the New Zealand Early Childhood Curriculum, which promotes five key areas of learning and development for children:
- well-being
- belonging
- communication
- contribution
- exploration

Our Philosophy
At Globalkids Early Learning Centre we value responsive, reciprocal and respectful relationships within a family centred mixed age group environment aged from 0 to 6 years old. We promote learning experiences based on interest and stage, not on age, where children can grow and learn together. The Maori concept of Tuakana-teina, is embraced at Globalkids, where a more experienced child helps and guides a younger or less experienced child within the learning environment. Our inclusive atmosphere promotes positive working relationships based on trust, love and care.
Globalkids recognises the bicultural partnership of the Treaty of Waitangi and we continue to develop children’s, staff, and whānau knowledge of Te Ao Māori. Globalkids welcomes families/whānau from all diverse backgrounds and cultures. Sustainable practices can be observed throughout our preschool and are paramount for all of our Globalkids community, where children are able to become caretakers of the environment.
Policies, practices and objectives are regularly reviewed and parents are kept informed during the process of self review. Parents’ aspirations are proactively sought, valued and respected. We believe in quality early childhood education experiences for all children and advocate primary caregiving principles. Teachers are committed to on-going professional development and sharing their knowledge with other teachers, parents and whānau.
Teachers plan programmes based on children’s interests, parents’ aspirations, literacy, mathematics, physical and multicultural experiences. Te Whāriki, the New Zealand Early Childhood Curriculum is incorporated into all aspects of programme planning, and this is implemented and evaluated.
Our goal is to develop a strong foundation on which children can continue to build, to ensure they grow up as competent, confident independent learners who are able to make a valued contribution to society.
