Fees

Because we know you want the best for your child, as we do, we don’t compromise on safe, supportive, care and education. Our team works hard to ensure your whānau receives the highest standard of care for your weekly fee, including:

  • a generous annual leave allowance
  • a nutritious midday meal, prepared fresh at thecentredaily – so you won’t need to pack kai
  • healthy mid-morning and mid-afternoon snacks to fuel your child’s play and learning
  • our Positive Parenting program – offering tips, advice and support for everywhānau

Because every child has different needs, we ask that you supply your child’s own bottles, formula and nappies for each day.

Why choose our centre?

Providing safe, loving care and learning since 2011, our daycare centre is designed to care for your child from infancy until they are ready for primary school. Your child will be cared for alongside children of a similar age and stage of development, in a room that seamlessly flows into an outdoor play area. Each environment is intentionally planned to provide the nurturing care, creative learning and social opportunities best suited for your child’s individual needs.

Our relaxed, homely environment welcomes your child into a world of safe, loving care and learning: one that is designed around their individual needs and interests, both indoors and out. Our outdoor areas in particular provide numerous fun-filled opportunities for your child to build foundational skills for school. Created for each age and stage of development, your little one will enjoy brand new experiences and set-ups each day that encourage lots of movement, physical challenges and of course, smiles.

Te Kōhanga Reo

The kōhanga reo movement is a unique initiative based on total immersion in Māori language and values with the aim of passing on Māori culture to future generations.

Kōhanga reo emphasise the revitalisation of the culture through te reo Māori and are dependent on the active participation of the whole whānau. The kaupapa of kōhanga reo aims to strengthen whānau capabilities in cultural, social, economic, spiritual and political matters. Education, health and wellbeing are inherent within all aspects of the kaupapa. The prime focus is the whānau – its collective development, growth, accountability and wellbeing set within a Māori cultural context.

Kōhanga reo do not regard tamariki in isolation, but as important members of the whānau. The kōhanga reo philosophy is that tamariki will benefit when whānau successfully operate according to the kaupapa. Tamariki are an integral part of whānau development.

The following key goals are the foundation of te kōhanga reo kaupapa established in 1982:

  • total immersion in te reo Māori me ōna tikanga in daily operations
  • whānau decision-making, management and responsibility
  • accountability
  • health and wellbeing of mokopuna and whānau.

The key goals of te kōhanga reo assure that there will be:

  • security in te reo Māori
  • a supportive, caring environment for mokopuna
  • whānau (collective) sharing of responsibilities, knowledge and expertise
  • greater respect and appreciation of each other.

Ascot Park Kindergarten

At Ascot Park we are big on family! We encourage whanau to be part of our programme in whatever way they can, to support the children’s learning. We encourage family groupings, so siblings and cousins can attend together. We also welcome participation of children with special learning needs and their whanau, and work with other agencies to foster and enable full participation.

We provide a programme based around Te Whariki, our national early childhood curriculum.  We notice children’s interests, and develop play-based opportunities to extend and foster their learning, in individual or group learning situations. These exciting journeys are captured through stories on Storypark, and in their profile books which record the ongoing learning during their time at Kindergarten.

At Ascot Park Kindergarten we embrace and follow the children’s lead – offering the security of warm empathetic support as we look for opportunities to ‘stretch’ their thinking, promote language development, foster their developing social competence, and nurture adventurous spirits who know what makes their heart sing!
