Pukerua Bay Kindergarten

Kia ora from Pukerua Bay Kindergarten and He Ara Tika Playgroup.  Our kindergarten caters for children from two to five years and sessions run from 8.30 to 2.30 Monday to Friday.

Our playgroup runs from Tuesday to Friday from 9am to 12 noon and is available for babies and toddlers. Children attend playgroup sessions with their parents or whanau.

He Ara Tika playgroup is an ideal place where very young children can experience positive learning outcomes with each child learning in his or her own way and at their own pace.  Each day one of the teachers from our Kindergarten is at the playgroup to work in partnership with parents/whanau to foster a quality learning environment.

Our two services are closely linked, with weekly visits between the groups.  This supports a smooth transition from playgroup to kindergarten. We also have a strong relationship with our local school, and again visits between school and kindergarten happen on a weekly basis.

Our Kindergarten sits in a beautiful bush environment, and we are a team strongly committed to providing quality education and care for children.  We foster “competent and confident learners and communicators, healthy in mind, body and spirit, secure in their sense of belonging and in the knowledge that they make a valued contribution to society”, (Te Whariki, Ministry of Education).

Our philosophy is based on the following values:  Aroha (loving kindness, Mana (holding oneself in esteem), Marutau (security), Manatika-a-iwi (social justice), Kaitiakitanga (guardianship), Manawaroa (resilience), Takitahitanga (individuality), and Kounga (quality).

A key aspect of our learning programme is the ongoing collaboration and connection with whanau, so it’s important to us to foster strong relationships with you.
