The vision for Three Trees Learning Centre was brought to life by 4E's Consulting – a bespoke early childhood education business that specialises in design and development. It focuses on engaging, enabling and empowering communities, through evolving education.

These are the values that shape the Three Trees Philosophy

Our Children
Tamariki

Our tamariki are respected and trusted for their inner potential and celebrated for who they are and where they have come from. They are valued for their meaningful work and purposeful child-led play – being active participants in their own learning journey. Our tamariki are respected for their capacity to investigate, explore and maintain curiosity in the world around them. We believe that connection and immersion in nature is key to a child's well-being. Our tamariki are given opportunities to access the vibrant, earthy wonders of the outdoors in our unique outdoors environment. At the same time they are developing social interactions with peers and engaging as competent and confident learners who are actively involved in their own development. This allows them to build a degree of resilience and persistence through self-awareness, self-motivation and self-regulation.

Our Teachers
Kaiako

Our kaiako are viewed as learners who work alongside tamariki and remain true to their role of nurturing, encouraging and inspiring the holistic development of all tamariki. Our kaiako thrive through their engagement with tamariki, sharing and celebrating in their moments of unplanned, unexpected and ultimately unlimited experiences in the outdoors. They are valued for their knowledge, commitment and passion for tamariki. We see our kaiako as co-learners, supporting and guiding tamariki to explore and discover the world around them. We believe our kaiako are the key stakeholders in forming, nurturing and growing strong relationships with our tamariki, whanau and community.

Our Family & Community
Whānau

Education at Three Trees Learning Centre is a collaborative process. Tamariki, kaiako, whanau and the community constantly engage to reflect on the aspirations for all tamariki. Our inspirational environment offers infants, toddlers and older tamariki regular opportunities to achieve and develop confidence and self-esteem through hands-on learning experiences in and around our Three Trees environment. We as people, grow from learning in a supportive environment that embodies a wide range of support, knowledge and perspectives. By learning collaboratively we develop a strong sense of community and grow an empathetic community of learners.

Our Environment
Taiao

Our environment is a place of beauty both inside and out. Our learning environment is enriched with love and the atmosphere is calm and nurturing. At Three Trees Learning Centre, we foster the tamariki’s innate tendency to seek connections with nature and other forms of life. This happens through taking learning out of the classroom, re-introducing the outdoors whilst enhancing all areas of their development through a natural discovery approach. We value the environment as a third teacher or an environmental steward. The tamariki enjoy the freedom of leading their own learning, exploring and discovering uninhibited in our environment.  Children learn most effectively when they are connecting deeply with nature through play experiences. This is about creating interactions with people and the places where they play, learning to care for nature and the world in which we live.  The concept of sustainability is introduced through experiential learning. Being outdoors in a natural setting enables children to develop a connection with the natural world that can lead to long-term environmental awareness and understanding as well as positive outcomes for their developing views of the world.

Bright Beginnings Montessori

Bright Beginnings Montessori Preschool and Nursery is a family owned and operated early childhood centre and we are passionate about providing high quality education and care for our community.

Our Montessori Philosophy is an educational system that allows children to learn and experience their world with the goal of being a thoughtful, contributing member of society. This is woven through our Montessori sessions but also within every aspect of life within our early childhood setting.

Through a holistic approach we foster tamariki to have a positive attitude to lifelong learning by using highly effective leadership and teaching. Tamariki are seen as competent and confident learners and kaiako use a child centred educational approach following the lead of tamariki to encourage learning how to learn. Risk taking is supported as we believe this is a tool for developing a growth mindset and building inner resilience.

In our well-resourced centre we have an expansive natural environment where tamariki can explore and extend their physical capabilities. We believe in providing both time and space to support free movement and active play at a natural pace and rhythm. Children are given the opportunity to be creative, learn through play and explore their world through a wide variety of learning experiences daily.

We provide every child the opportunity to leave Bright Beginnings Montessori with confidence, independence and self-help skills, social and emotional strategies along with practical real-life skills.

At Bright Beginnings we promote highly responsive interactions and relationships between kaiako, whānau and tamariki. The Nursery follow a primary caregiving routine where each child has a dependable kaiako for settling in and care moments to build secure attachments. We follow the individual child’s needs and routines as children develop in their own way and in their own time.

We acknowledge the bicultural partnership inherent within Te Tiriti o Waitangi and are committed to using te reo and tikanga in all aspects of our daily programme. The culture and identity of each child is celebrated and is an integral aspect of the curriculum we offer along with valuing the diversity of each family that is part of our learning community.

BestStart Rolleston

BestStart Rolleston offers quality childcare and education in a purpose built centre with wonderful established gardens and trees. Our Nursery caters for children aged 3 months to 2 years and our Preschool 2-5 years.

My Place, Your Place, Our Place

Where we build strong partnerships with parents, whanau and the community, providing a rich and inclusive environment that fosters opportunities for tamariki to learn and thrive.

Both our Preschool and Nursery encourage children to take part in their own learning decisions. We have many learning opportunities on offer and a range of resources for the children to choose from themselves. The experiences on offer are based on the children’s current interests.

Art, puzzles, games, blocks…the list goes on! All of these are fun activities to share with friends in the outdoors. Our Nursery has a big open space which allows room to explore and develop relationships with the other children and teachers. They have their own outdoor playground which is very colourful, safe, and full of opportunities to develop their motor development. All experiences are based on the children’s interests and current skills.

In our Preschool we have many different areas set up for children based on their interests and needs. These areas include family corner, building and construction, music, science/puzzles and reading. Our home corner includes dress-ups, dolls, prams, beds, play food, a table and chairs for ‘eating’ at and a kitchen set-up. This is a very busy and loved area of play. Our building and construction area includes blocks, cars, trains and Duplo just to name a few activities. We love to do all sorts of creative art including messy play. Children love to get involved in water play, play dough and painting. Outside is exciting with a large sandpit, fort and play areas which are set up differently each day. Swings, challenge courses, balance beams, climbing boxes and slides are just a few examples of our outdoor exploration opportunities.

Nau mai, haere mai and welcome to Rolleston Playcentre

Playcentre is unlike any other early childhood education organisation. At Playcentre, both children and their parents / caregivers attend.

At Playcentre children get the opportunity to learn and explore in a fun and safe environment.

The curiosity and creativity of our tamariki is nurtured in a way that allows them to learn about themselves and their world.

Your child will be given a chance to explore, create, climb, read, sing, experiment, play music, wear costumes, have their face painted (or do it themselves!), garden, do carpentry with real tools, bake and cook, build sandcastles, swing, slide, dance, spend time in nature and get messy.

The activities change every day. Playcentre parents all bring different skills, interests, and cultural backgrounds to add to the rich learning environment.

We welcome families with children aged 0 – 6 years. Mixed age play allows your children to engage with others older and younger than themselves. Pre-schoolers learn how to communicate, share and negotiate with empathy for their younger peers.

At Playcentre, families come together and lifelong friendships are formed.

We welcome you to visit any time during the year. You are entitled to three free visits so come and check out what we do – we would love to meet you and your family!
