Trentham Kindergarten

At Trentham Kinderagrten we celebrate the cultural diversity of our community. Each day we have a kori time which has a focus on te reo through waiata and tikanga practices. We value and respect our bicultural heritage.

We provide a safe and welcoming environment for children and support the development of healthy lifestyles with a combination of learning about our environment, healthy food and physical activity. Our team place great importance on offering a learning environment where children's interests, strengths and passions are fostered and where learning is fun.

Our programme provides learning opportunities to build on children’s interests and experiences.

Our teaching team is made up of five fully qualified and registered teachers who welcome the chance to talk with you about your child - and appreciate what you can share about your child's life outside kindergarten.

We are proud of our large outdoor environment which we are redeveloping to stimulate and provide challenges for children. This will incorporate new gardens and fruit trees to provide kai for our community into the future.

Farmyard Preschool

Farmyard Preschool provides quality early childhood care & education for preschoolers in the Upper Hutt region.

We are really looking forward to the opportunity of supporting your child on their learning journey and getting to know you, your child and your Whanau.

Here at Farmyard Preschool, we will provide a safe, nurturing environment where tamariki independence is fostered. Tamariki will be supported to learn at their own pace so that they become confident and competent in their ability to learn.

We believe in the importance of allowing tamariki to explore their world developing a sense of excitement and understanding of where and how they fit.We are committed to Te tiriti o Waitangi and understand the importance of our role as kaiako to incorporate bi-cultural practice through the use of Te reo and Tikanga Māori throughout the centre.

Animals are an integral part of our centre. Through child / animal interactions we believe children will have the opportunity to develop empathy and responsibility to help support social development with peers. Children will also develop an understanding of sensitivity, sustainability and ways in which they can care for the world around them.

We believe in the importance of building strong reciprocal relationships with tamariki whānau, iwi and hapū to support their learning. We encourage and welcome their contributions and are committed to supporting whānau aspirations for their tamariki. As teachers we believe early childhood education is paramount for laying a strong foundation to support a journey of lifelong learning.

As professionals it is important for us to continue on our learning journey so we are able to deliver a high quality theory based experience for all ākonga.

Our Philosophy

At Kidlywinks:

We believe that we nurture all tamariki independence by promoting their confidence, self-esteem, motivation, perseverance and independence.  We foster self-reliance. which enables the tamariki to feel they have control over their life....

  • Kaiako will support tamariki to build their confidence and help when required.
  • Tamariki are encouraged to take responsibility for their own learning and will be given support when required.
  • Tamariki can choose their own resources and take these to areas of their choice.
  • We believe it is important that tamariki, Matua, whānau , Kaiako and the community of our centre are treated respectfully (Manaakitanga).  Both within the centre environment and out in our local community.  We believe in creating a whānau feeling within our centre.

  • We explore our centres Turangawaewae by exploring Awakairangi.

We are working together to incorporate more sustainable practices within the centre.
