BestStart Weymouth is an early learning centre dedicated to giving the best care and education to our children. Nestled in the heart of Manurewa, our multicultural team welcome every family/whanau into a vibrant centre life. Our passionate and long-standing teachers develop confident learners ready for life by nurturing hearts, bodies and minds.
The room for our youngest children, Kiwi Room, is a nurturing space to support the care of infants and encourage their learning. Teachers get to know and love each child, understanding individual and family needs and creating a strong sense of belonging and relationship. Our young learners are supported to be active in our safe indoor-outdoor environments. Stimulating interactions with teachers and children develop language, interests and natural abilities. BestStart Weymouth’s healthy heart award means that nutritious infant food is prepared on-site to high safety standards.
The Ruru room is designed for the needs of 2-3-year-old children. Active, curious, independent toddlers are on a mission to learn about the world! Our team support learning at each child’s development stage and pace, partnering with family/whanau for the best outcomes. Our passionate toddler teachers encourage self-help skills such as serving themselves food, toileting and making safe choices. The Ruru room is a fun, exciting adventure that our toddlers love to be part of.
The Tui room is a new classroom which was created in September 2020. It caters for children 3-years and over till they reach their last destination at BestStart Weymouth which is the Tane Mahuta Room. In our Tui room, we place importance on relationships with children, Whanau, our learning/teaching community and our Papatūānuku (mother earth). The teachers of this room begin building the important trusting relationships with the children from the very first day. We believe that each child is unique with their own individual stories to tell, listening to the children is what we need to do as their kaiako. In our room we believe in encouraging the children to use their voices and how important it is not to just be seen but also heard – We want the children to know that we see and hear them, whatever they have to say has a meaning and how much it is valued!
The Tane Mahuta room (God of the Forest) is where our busy and inquisitive preschoolers like to be. Each day is a new adventure – it could be getting colourful in the Holi festival, making Maori bread for Matariki or taking an excursion to the library. Our teaching programme is based on Te Whaariki (NZ curriculum) and gets children ready for school by developing independence, social skills and language. Our Be School Ready initiative is designed to support children’s next big learning step when they move to primary school. We support parents and children as they develop the skills and attitudes for being a lifelong learner.
BestStart’s Hauora (health) programme helps develop happy and healthy bodies and minds. Our large playgrounds encourage physical exercise with children becoming capable of using hoops, balls and climbing frames. Our centre cook provides plenty of healthy food on a seasonal menu that meets Healthy Heart standards.
Part of the award winning BestStart family, we've been voted the Most Trusted early childhood education provider in NZ.
