Who We Are

Nestled in the heart of the Hibiscus Coast, Small Sprouts is a purpose-built early learning centre where childhood is unhurried, joyful, and deeply connected to nature.

We’re a family-owned centre offering high-quality education and care from 7:00am – 5:30pm, designed to support busy whānau while giving tamariki the very best start in life.

At the core of what we do is a simple belief: children thrive when they feel safe, seen, and inspired to explore.

What Makes Us Different

🌱 Nature-Inspired Learning
Our expansive outdoor environment invites tamariki to climb, dig, create, and imagine. We embrace te taiao, allowing children to learn through real, hands-on experiences that spark curiosity and confidence.

💛 Heart-Led, Qualified Kaiako
Our experienced teaching team builds strong, respectful relationships with each child, supporting their unique identity, interests, and pace of learning.

🧠 Child-Led, Research-Informed Approach
Guided by Te Whāriki and inspired by Reggio Emilia, we see the environment as the “third teacher”, encouraging exploration, creativity, and deeper thinking.

🍽️ Nourishing, Inclusive Kai
We provide fresh, nutritious meals throughout the day, catering to all dietary requirements, so tamariki are fuelled to learn, play, and grow.

🤝 Strong Whānau Partnerships
We work closely with families to create a genuine sense of belonging, where communication is open, relationships are valued, and every child’s journey is shared.

philosophy

At Small Sprouts, we believe childhood should be filled with joy, curiosity, and a strong sense of belonging.

We see every child as capable, unique, and full of potential. Our role is to gently guide and support their learning through meaningful relationships, play, and exploration.

Inspired by Te Whāriki and a nature-based approach, we create an environment where tamariki can learn at their own pace, build confidence, and develop a lifelong love of learning.

Our kaiako lead with care, empathy, and respect, taking the time to truly know each child, their interests, and their whānau. These strong relationships are at the heart of everything we do.

We value the importance of connection to the natural world, giving children opportunities to explore, take risks, and discover through hands-on experiences every day.

Above all, we work in partnership with whānau to create a warm, welcoming space where children feel safe, supported, and proud of who they are.

At Small Sprouts, we’re not just preparing children for school, we’re helping them grow into confident, happy, and resilient little humans.
