Nestled in the heart of the Hibiscus Coast, Small Sprouts is a purpose-built Early Learning Centre designed to inspire wonder and exploration. Our centre boasts an incredible outdoor space, featuring expansive play areas, large sandpits, and natural environments that invite tamariki to run, dig, climb, and imagine. It's a place where every child can freely connect with nature, fostering curiosity and creativity in an unhurried and fun way.
We are passionate about giving children the very best start in life, while offering parents and whānau the reassurance of quality care delivered by our vibrant, qualified teaching team. At Small Sprouts, the environment is our third teacher, encouraging holistic development through child-led play and discovery.
As a family-owned centre, we cherish working in partnership with whānau, creating a nurturing, fun, and respectfulatmosphere where tamariki thrive. Every day is an adventure in learning, laughter, and growth.
We’re open Monday to Friday, offering both short days (8:30 am - 3:30 pm) and full days (7:00 am - 6:00 pm) to suit your family’s needs. Our nut-free centre provides nutritious morning tea, lunch, afternoon tea, and a late snack, catering for all allergies and dietary requirements.
Come and experience the fun of Small Sprouts, where tamariki flourish and childhood is celebrated.
At Small Sprouts, we’re passionate about the natural world, embracing te taiao (the environment) and fostering the holistic development of our tamariki (children). Just like seeds sprouting and thriving, our approach is grounded in Te Whāriki, nurturing relationships and a strong sense of whanaungatanga (connection).
Inspired by the Reggio Emilia approach and RIE (Resources for Infant Educarers), we view tamariki as active participants in their learning journey.
Our environment—Te Toru Kaiako (the third teacher)—encourages exploration, inquiry, and collaboration, sparking curiosity and creativity at every step. Our Kaiako (Teachers) are open, reflective, and committed to growth, valuing feedback and ongoing development.
Our values of Fun, Heart-led, and Whakaute (Respect) shape everything we do:
- Fun: Learning should be joyful and playful, filled with opportunities for tamariki to explore and discover their world.
- Heart-led: With aroha, empathy, and care, our kaiako honour each child’s unique mana and identity.
- Whakaute: We embrace biculturalism through te reo Māori and tikanga Māori, while celebrating the diverse cultures of all our whānau.
Kai is central to our philosophy, offering nourishing foods to support both body and mind. Through hands-on experiences with our Kai Creator, we foster a sense of belonging, strengthening social bonds. Whānau are at the heart of our service, recognised as essential partners in their children’s learning. At Small Sprouts, every voice matters. We encourage participation, ensuring whānau feel deeply connected and respected in our community.
Together, we cultivate a place where tamariki grow, thrive, and blossom—ready to take on the world.
