Our philosophy
Children, parents and educators at Browns Bay Preschool, form a community of learners who all work together in partnership. We establish strong relationships with your child, and your family, by sharing information, which will benefit your child’s growth and development. The holistic potential of each child will be encouraged to the fullest. Each child brings to the preschool unique cultural values and beliefs which will be respected and nurtured. Learning is a lifelong process, which can be joyful and fun when we investigate, research and explore our world around us in meaningful ways. Therefore we will offer an environment that is interesting, enriching and well resourced.
We are responsive to the children’s interests and use these to extend their current knowledge in ways that engage them in the learning process. We will provide a programme where children feel safe, develop positive self worth and a sense of community, the ability to communicate effectively with others and a respect for the different ways that other people see the world. Children will receive quality education and care, which celebrates and nurtures each child’s potential as a competent, capable and confident learner. Our programme is underpinned by Te Whaariki (Early Childhood Curriculum) as well as the philosophies from Reggio Emilia (Italy).
