Creators Educational Trust – Waipa Centre, Te Awamutu
Creators Waipa is a warm, community-minded early learning centre nestled on the picturesque campus of Waipa Christian School at 91 Chapel Drive, Te Awamutu. Operated by Creators Educational Trust — a not-for-profit organisation — every resource is reinvested directly into the children and kaiako who matter most.
Inspired by the internationally recognised Reggio Emilia approach, Creators takes an inquiry-based, child-led view of learning. Tamariki are seen as capable, curious, and full of potential — active contributors in making sense of their world rather than passive recipients of instruction. The environment itself is treated as the "third teacher," with spaces thoughtfully designed to spark wonder, creativity, and exploration through open-ended materials and natural resources.
The centre caters to both toddlers and kindergarten-aged children across two rooms — the Tui Room and the Kiwi Room — with morning, afternoon, full-day, and school-day session options available. Small group sizes are a deliberate choice, creating an intimate, family-like atmosphere where kaiako can genuinely know each child and respond to their individual interests and strengths.
Faith is woven naturally into the centre's culture. Tamariki are encouraged to grow in awe and wonder of the world around them, with God at the centre of the Creators approach. This spiritual foundation sits alongside a deep commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi, te reo Māori, and nurturing each child's bicultural identity.
Strong whānau partnerships are core to everything Creators does. Families are welcomed as active participants in their child's learning journey — not just observers. The result is a genuine village feel, where children thrive because the whole community is invested in their growth.
