A little about us

Tamahere Playcentre is run co-operatively by member families and has the simple philosophy of ‘children and whanau working together’, Tamahere Playcentre offers a unique experience in a rapidly growing semi-rural area just 6km from Hillcrest. We received the highest rating of ‘very well placed to promote positive learning outcomes for children’ in our latest ERO review, December 2015.

In early 2016 our fabulous families led us through exciting building renovations which have doubled our indoor play area, complementing our great outdoor play area shaded with beautiful big trees. A typical session might include cooking, finger-painting, water and sandpit activities, obstacle courses, ramp-work with our bikes, endless volcanoes, campfires in the sandpit, as well as painting, clay, collage, carpentry, dress ups, the library, play dough, etc. – we are always doing something!

Our roll includes children from birth to school age and we embrace the diverse nationalities of our families. The close relationship with the school next door offers many opportunities which offer positive experiences for our tamariki in terms of transition to school, including visits where our children learn with school age children and attendance at their fairs and pet days. The Playcentre itself attracts great families and their wonderful children, and everyone likes to be there for as long as possible!

Visitors are very welcome.
