Thames Coast Community Kindergarten is an independent community-run kindergarten situated in the small coastal village of Te Puru, 12kms north of Thames. The kindergarten is a non-profit early childhood service managed by a volunteer parent management committee and employs three fully qualified and experienced teachers and a part-time administrator.
We are the only early childhood centre in a 50 km stretch from Thames to Coromandel Town on the Coromandel Peninsula. We have a very good reputation in the Thames/Thames Coast area with families travelling up to 20 km to attend our centre. We are a core service in our area; not just for education, but also as a place where families get to know one another and establish friendships that strengthen our small community. Because we are independent, we can tailor our services as much as possible to the local community’s wishes and we ensure our services and facilities reflect the needs and values of our whanau and wider community.
Originally established by local families we have been operating for over twenty years. The kindergarten runs sessional education and care for children from birth to school age.
