Our teaching is based on the New Zealand Early Childhood curriculum, Te Whariki and inspired by the principles of the Reggio Emilia approach.
We aim to create a welcoming, nurturing, home-like surroundings that have the potential to inspire children, where parents and whanau are treated as valued members of our community.
At Brilliant Minds we offer an environment where children understand the foundation of Te Ao Maori, Te Tiriti o Waitangi and acknowledge Maori as Tangata Whenua. We offer a rich bi-cultural experience that helps children value the New Zealand culture and its way of life.
We apprize the diversity of cultures at our centre and aim to build respectful relationship between Whanau, Tamariki and our educators. We acknowledge all ethnic groups by respecting their cultural identity, heritage and language. We ensure that there are equitable learning opportunities for all children irrespective of age, ability ethnicity and diversity.
We derive inspiration from the Reggio Emilia educational philosophy where children are active participants in their own learning and develop a unique reciprocal relationship with their teachers. We believe that children have multiple ways to express themselves. They are encouraged to foster critical thinking by exploration and observation.
We encourage our educators to respect a child’s choices and value child-initiated experiences. They challenge and provoke ideas through open ended questions and allow the child to make mistakes and learn from them. The child’s learning and developmental progress is observed, documented, displayed and shared with parents.
We aspire to build a place of encounter and connection, and interaction and dialogue.
