We are different.
Welcome to The Devonport Community Crèche - a non-profit, teacher-led centre, offering top-quality early childhood education and care for the children of our local community, aged between 18 months and 4 years old. Being non-profit means that we have an advantage over other for-profit childcare centres. All the money from donations and grants is reinvested back into the Crèche. What's more, we have lower child-staff rates, better-educated, passionate and long-standing staff, as well as higher rates of professional development.
Why choose us?
Our team of five experienced registered Early Childhood teachers have over 30 years of combined experience working at our Crèche. They work tirelessly to nurture and ensure positive and innovative learning outcomes for our children. In November 2008, our Crèche Manager, Tessa Dunleavy was awarded the NEITA National Excellence teaching award - no mean feat.
Our Crèche programme aims to foster and empower children’s holistic learning and development, nurturing creativity, autonomy, resilience, and social interaction. The result is happy, healthy, curious young minds.
Our teachers.
Here at the Devonport Community Crèche we truly believe that our staff are our greatest asset. They are a passionate bunch, so it's no wonder between them they have over 30 years of combined experience working at our special and unique Crèche. Our highly trained and experienced teachers work together as a team to ensure the needs of all children are met. It is at the heart of everything we do. Our Crèche runs during the school term and closes during the school holidays.
Our Crèche sessions are as follows:
- Morning sessions - Monday to Thursday (9am - 12noon)
- Afternoon sessions - Monday to Thursday (1pm - 3.30pm)
- Full day sessions - Monday to Thursday (9am - 3.30pm)
- Friday session - (9am - 1.30pm)
Children are offered one morning session at 18 months old. Children are then offered another morning session at 2 years old. Once children drop their afternoon nap, usually around 3 years old, children will be offered a full day session and will begin attending afternoon sessions with our older children (rather than morning sessions).
