Wise Owl Early Childhood Centre

Wise Owl Early Childhood Centre is a small family orientated centre that provides a "home away from home" for children aged 3 months to 5 years. 

The teaching team at Wise Owl is a mixture of qualified and registered teachers. Together we work in a close-knit team celebrating each other's strengths and backgrounds (cultural or experience based). We are all passionate about our centre and our wonderful families that make our Wise Owl community. We work in true partnership with parents and whanau to provide quality care and education for each child.

We have a quiet nursery, catering for up to 10 under two's a day. Our nursery kaiako work to provide a calm environment for nga pepe where they are able to self-select resources and participate within daily mahi that kaiako prepare for them. 

Our preschool offers many different play spaces both indoor and out. We believe that children learn through play therefore a lot of our day consists of uninterrupted play. There is plenty of opportunity for tamariki to set up their own activities and play. Nga Kaiako also plan for each child’s interests and development and set up activities and experiences in relation to this.

At Wise Owl we celebrate tikanga Maori. You will hear many of our teachers' speaking Maori to our Tamariki and see it within our teaching practices, learning stories and wall displays.

Through cultural experience we help the children to develop an interest in the outside world and understand New Zealand's place in it.

We value community input in our centre, and plan trips out in the community in relation to our programme plan. We welcome members of the community come in to help teach our tamariki.
