A little about us

Welcome To Marewa Kindergarten

Marewa Kindergarten is an extremely well resourced, centrally located kindergarten. Our experienced, established team of teachers provide a warm, caring and welcoming environment for children and families with a strong sense of community and belonging. We pride ourselves in knowing the individual child and their families.

Our kindergarten values inclusive practice. Our children learn happily with and alongside children with different abilities as well as children from different countries. Our children experience success. Strongly established liasons with local schools, and our daily programme teaches the children essential skills that enable them to experience a smooth transition to school.

Marewa Philosophy:

"Take care of our children

Take care of what they hear

Take care of what they see

Take care of what they feel

 For how the children grow

So will be the shape of Aotearoa."

Dame Whina Cooper

At Marewa kindergarten we provide a safe, healthy, caring and happy environment with equitable opportunities for all.

The teaching team are qualified, experienced and highly skilled professionals.

We foster strong and secure relationships between children, family/whānau, teachers and community that reflect the cultural make-up of our community and the bi-cultural heritage of Aotearoa new Zealand all of which are vital to a sense of belonging, well-being and positive learning outcomes.

We acknowledge that children increasingly live in a busy fast-paced world; we purposefully provide an unhurried environment where children learn holistically.

We celebrate the uniqueness of each child, their needs, strengths and cultures.  We pride ourselves on a safe nurturing environment which provides experiences to meet and extend social, emotional, physical and intellectual development of all children where there is love, respect and understanding.

We value learning gained through both free play and structured communal group times.  We believe in the importance of teaching children to play safely and to show respect for people, the living and non-living environment, with a clear emphasis on learning about routines, limits and boundaries.

In partnerships with whānau/families, we uphold the values of honesty, truthfulness, courtesy and kindness.

Children develop independence and resilience and are prepared for a smooth transition to school and future learning.
