A little about us

Ruahine Roslyn Kindergarten places wellbeing at the heart of our curriculum.

Children are supported through authentic experiences to explore and become increasingly curious of their world, to make connections with people, places and things, to take risks and make mistakes. They are supported to discover different ways to be expressive as well as strategies to learn to cope with big feelings. They are encouraged to play an active role in deciding the direction of their learning. This recognises their ability to lead their own learning and the power of learning through play.

Teachers acknowledge the critical role of those who are important in the child’s world. Ongoing conversations allow us to get to know our whānau/families, their aspirations for their child as well as their values and beliefs. Our relationships are built upon honesty, respect, and trust. Collaboration with parents and whanau supports children to navigate learning and development within a safe environment that is sensitive and affirming of the individual, their culture and values that they bring with them from home.

“Embracing and celebrating diversity is something we think is super special here at Ruahine Roslyn Kindergarten and so important as we endeavour to empower a new generation of children who have great strength and pride knowing and preserving their identity and having the openness to accept and value others that have different beliefs to their own.”

We are proud and committed to being an Enviroschool. This means we commit to a long-term sustainability journey where tamariki connect with and explore the environment, then plan, design and take action as Kaitiakitanga/guardians and protectors of the land.

Ruahine Roslyn Kindergarten is open Monday to Friday, 8.30am - 2.30pm throughout the year, except statutory holidays.  A Kindy Club operates during our association term breaks as we recognise some parents may struggle to find alternative care - ask at the kindergarten for details.

Three, four and five year old's may attend our kindergarten up to 30 hours at no charge, a fee of $2.50 (inclusive of GST) is in place for tamariki under 3 years of age - ask our Head Teacher for a copy of our Terms of Trade.
