A little about us

Welcome to Ruahine West End Kindergarten, a sustainable, environmentally caring kindergarten where tamariki develop an 'I can' attitude, embrace challenge and build resilience.

At Ruahine West End Kindergarten we continually strive to strengthen whanaungatanga - respectful, trusting, and collaborative relationships with tamariki and whānau, which are fundamental to learning and a sense of belonging.

We recognise the unique bi-cultural heritage of Aotearoa and celebrate the individuality and mana of each child. Our environment is rich in resources and learning experiences which challenge all learners, and Te Reo Māori and tikanga are woven into daily learning.

Tamariki are encouraged to build positive and respectful relationships which support the emotional wellbeing, cultural identity and diversity of all learners.

We have embraced the  Enviroschools kaupapa and tamariki learn what it means to be a kaitiaki - guardian of Aotearoa, showing atawhai (kindness) and kawenga (responsibility) towards our environment, while developing sustainable practices.

Our tamariki are encouraged to lead their own learning and persevere with difficulty, building a resilient "I can" attitude and growing as kaiārahi (leaders) and confident, life long learners.

Ruahine West End Kindergarten is open Monday to Friday, 8.30am - 2.30pm, and closed over the Christmas and New Year break, as well as three weeks during the year when teachers are engaged in professional development (dates to be advised on enrolment).

Three, four and five year old's may attend our kindergarten up to 30 hours at no charge, a fee of $2.50 (inclusive of GST) is in place for tamariki under 3 years of age, but we may be able to assist you with fees if you have a confidential kanohi ki te kanohi (chat) with Aimee our Head Teacher.
