Our Rooms

Active Explorers Victoria Ave has three separate rooms, enabling us to deliver safe, nurturing and age appropriate learning experiences for all our children.

Nga Kakano o Tane

Our infant room (for ages 0 to 2) is warm and welcoming and staffed by a highly qualified and caring team. Development is fostered through Te Whariki the New Zealand early childhood curriculum and focusses on:

Te Puawai Tots

Our toddler room is specially designed for our 2 to 3 year olds, providing a nurturing and supportive environment that is also engaging, challenging and inspiring. Learning and development opportunities are maximised through a programme specifically responsive to the unique needs of toddlers.

Koru Lounge

Designed for our 3 to 5 year olds, the Koru Lounge is a place of awesome learning – some new, and some finetuning of what we already know.

Here are a few of the cool things that we do:

• Hang up our bags on hooks and place shoes underneath, just like at school
• Develop skills for taking care of ourselves like getting dressed, making healthy food choices, looking after our belongings
• Make our own morning tea and learn how to use a knife, fork and glass
• Use cool equipment like hot glue guns, hammers and nails, and tablets
• Learn to care for our environment and the things that live in it like our fish, frog and garden
• Kapa haka group where we learn waiata and mahi-a-ringa (songs with actions in Maori)
• Brain Gym (physical activities that help engage your brain for learning)
• Science is big here and we do lots of activities that help us to make sense of the world around us
• When we are six months off school, we bring our own lunch box once a week and a homework book with some extra cool activities to fine tune literacy and numeracy skills
