What makes Tawhiti Kindergarten special…

• Inclusion is an intricate part of our daily practices. We aspire to promote inclusion through, positive behaviour, positive reciprocal communication, effective listening, and nurture children/family/whānau  sense of self and belonging.
• Respect and responsibility underpins our pedagogy teaching practices.
• We have an open door policy where family and whanau are warmly welcomed and invited to participate in our daily programme, whereby we develop reciprocal relationships will all members of our kindergarten.
• We are a diverse team that come together with our own strengths and interests; we work collaboratively sharing our existing knowledge, values, beliefs and ideas.
• As teachers we seek to model a holistic, positive approach to each child’s learning and development which promotes confidence, high self- esteem, independence and happiness.
• We aspire to continually move forward to provide high quality education for children, where teachers and children learn with and alongside each another.
• We have a unique buddy system with Tawhiti primary school, which  aids in the transition process.
