A little about us

Welcome to Country Kindy Do you ever catch yourself saying “Back when I was young…” about your childhood memories? Do you want your child to have space to learn and play?

We are located on 3.5 spacious acres, between Palmerston North and Feilding. We offer a unique country environment, where children have space to learn and explore at their own pace. We encourage the children to develop their own working theories and self-evaluating risk (with supervision) whilst learning important skills, so they can become confident and competent learners for the future.

COUNTRY KINDY has been purpose-built to meet the needs of the children, the teaching team and the animals. The children can explore the inside area and discover the well-equipped dramatic play, construction, discovery, art, writing/games and puzzles areas, just to name a few. We also have a large kitchen and dining area where we, as a family, sit down for all meals. We offer a large children’s bathroom and nappy changing area, where we are happy to help your child with their toileting needs, and peaceful sleeping room facilities, if your child requires a sleep.

The 650m2 outside playground offers a complete grass experience, with moveable equipment allowing the children to be creative in their play. There is a sandpit, a dirtpit, carpentry tables, a vegetable garden and a bike track, offering plenty of fun activities for your child to be involved in.

COUNTRY KINDY is a working farm. The children visit the farmyard every afternoon, whether it is sunny or raining. This allows your child to assist with the feeding and well-being of our pets and livestock. We want your child to be confident around animals so they can learn about caring and have empathy towards all living things.  We also want your child to understand the different life cycles; for insects, plants, animals and seasons. For example, they may watch animals being born and they will learn the different functions of animals as livestock. And then we have our pets which the children love to handle and feed, we also farewell our pets when they die. They will also be able to watch a storm roll in over the paddocks or along the Ranges. We believe these hands-on skills will aide in preparing them for life.
