A little about us

Te Roto Mara o Nga Tamariki, the Maori name of our kindergarten, means Garden of the Children. This reflects our philosophy of providing a creative, stimulating, and rich curriculum in a welcoming, homely well-resourced and cared for environment. We promote respectful and reciprocal relationships, and we acknowledge and respect te Tiriti o Waitangi and the diversity of Aotearoa.

The kindergarten is in central Khandallah and is close to the shopping village, bus routes and community facilities. Our building is an attractive well maintained older style villa, set in a pleasant playground with established trees and gardens. The kindergarten has been providing a professional service for 50 years.

We know that families are critical to children’s learning, and we foster a community of learning that includes families and community. We place emphasis on caring for each other and for our environment. Literacy, numeracy, and natural sciences are woven throughout our programme.

We provide quality resources and a wide range of experiences for children including excursions. We enjoy several kindergarten-wide family events each year. Our committee holds a house and garden tour as our major fundraiser.
