A little about us

KIA ORA & WELCOME TO OTATARA PRESCHOOL EARLY LEARNING CENTRE

Our centre incorporates four indoor learning areas and two separate outdoor play areas for under 2’s and over 2’s. The large, spacious grounds feature an exciting locally designed and crafted playground, reflecting many aspects of the Otatara area, this provides an environment to challenge children and to inspire their imagination, exploration and creativity.

We value the partnership between teachers, families/whānau, the children and the community. We will ensure that family/whānau will be involved and respected throughout their child’s learning journey.

OUR PHILOSOPHY

We provide an inclusive learning environment where children develop their knowledge, skills and attitudes through their play and active exploration. The environment that we provide will be warm, friendly, inviting and one that will  encourage them to take risks in their learning. The children will feel secure, happy and empowered as confident and competent lifelong learners.

We promote a commitment to bi-culturalism and cultural diversity and at all times show a responsibility and commitment to the Treaty of Waitangi.

Through the development of our relationships with the children they will be encouraged to be respectful, thoughtful and understanding towards each other and their natural environment. Each child will be affirmed as an individual as they develop their physical, emotional, cognitive and social skills.

OUR AIMS

  • To provide the Otatara Community with an excellent "quality” Early Childhood facility.
  • To offer a stimulating, well resourced and fully educational programme sensitive to individual and community needs.
  • To provide a safe and positive environment in which children can learn and grow comfortably as individuals.
  • To ensure that the local community and families are an integral part of the programme, by welcoming visitors in and taking the children out of the centre on excursions, giving them the opportunity to explore their wider community.
