A little about us

We are a seaside kindergarten with 30 children attending each day catering for a diverse range of ethnicities representative of our wider Petone community.

Our vision  is that children are nurtured, Te Ao Maori is embraced and the learning community is inspired.

We work together to find ways to empower children and guide children’s curiosity and decision-making. We want to support you as a parent and connect you with other parents.

Ka pu te ruha, ka hao te rangatahi!  When the old nets weaken, the new come forward. The next generation.

Our whakatauki is a good representation of how we see the kindergarten as a place of renewal. It was gifted to our Kindergarten and keeps us connected, honours the past whilst encouraging us to be in the present and plan for the future.

Making learning visible is an important aspect to our approach in planning alongside children. We regularly meet as a team to identify children’s emerging learning and discuss opportunities and possibilities for individuals and groups of learners.

We value children’s contributions and celebrate children’s capabilities and curiosity. We provide a carefully planned environment that invites children to explore. We encourage children to communicate their learning with each other in respectful ways.

We welcome parents/whanau/community input into the programme and want you to contribute your ideas and skills, and to feel included in our kindergarten community.
