A little about us

Our centre is located at 77 Hutt Road, Petone, Lower Hutt.  This is the most convenient location for an early childhood education facility as it enables us to get out and about within the community with our children.  We regularly visit the Petone library, supermarket, Mitre10, Celcius café – all of which are within easy walking distance.  If we need to travel further afield, such as Te Papa in Wellington City we can easily jump on a bus and/or a train to get there and we do!

Our philosophy is based on the natural environment and how we can nurture and protect this environment for future generations.  As this forms part of our daily curriculum and routine we are teaching the children (and families) about the importance of recycling and reusing, composting and growing our own produce (which is then used by the cook for daily meals).  The children recycle paper and card – we are part of the ‘paper4trees’ initiative which means that for all the recycling we do during the year we get native trees to plant in our garden.  We recyle all disposable nappies and other household items, such as cans, plastic, etc.  We have our own compost and grow fruit trees and vegetables.  We also ensure that children understand how precious our water is and therefore collect our own rain water for use in daily activities, such as sand and water
