Little Sparrows Educare
The centre borders the grounds of Southwell School enjoying not only a safe and private environment, but also a beautiful backdrop which includes a significant stand of native bush and the adjacent open space known to the school as Jack’s paddock. Our unique playground offers a natural and established area which reflects the beauty of Aotearoa New Zealand.
Our centre is a place where ‘mixed aged’ children can learn and grow together in a family-like environment where the children can enjoy the incredible benefits of learning life skills not always available to children placed in larger segregated centres. We aim to create a ‘home away from home’ where the children will always feel safe and secure.

Tē Puna Reo Ō Te Kōhao
Te Puna Reo o Te Kōhao (Te Kōhao) was established in 2017 to meet the high demand for Māori medium early education in the community. It is in Hamilton next to Te Kōhao Kōhungahunga, its sister service. Te Kōhao is licensed to provide all day education and care for 40 tamariki over two years of age. Both puna reo are governed by Te Kōhao Health Limited and share the same leadership structure. They affiliate to Ngā Puna Reo o Aotearoa. A tumuaki has overall responsibility across both the puna reo and each of these has a kaiako matua who lead the teaching team. There have been staffing changes since ERO reviewed the puna in 2020. Governance is currently supporting five kaimahi across both puna reo to attain their teaching qualifications. The puna reo acknowledge Waikato Tainui as Mana Whenua.
