Takaro Kindergarten
Kia Ora from Ruahine Takaro Kindergarten, an open and inclusive learning environment driven by bicultural and multicultural practices.
At Takaro everybody is welcomed with open-arms. Many cultures and diverse needs are celebrated, and strong bonds exist between tamariki, kaiako, tangata whenua and local schools.
This is a place of Ako (learning together), where every tamaiti is a taonga (treasure) and whānau are acknowledged as first teachers. We work closely with whānau to strengthen learning and provide consistent strategies which support tamariki at kindergarten and home.
Te Reo Māori is spoken freely and integrated throughout our kindergarten programme, and tamariki develop as kaitiaki (guardians) of our environment as they plant, cultivate and harvest fruit and veges.
With access to our spacious and well-resourced indoor and outdoor environment, there are ample opportunities for learning all aspects of the curriculum through play. Creativity and problem solving skills are fostered through a rich mix of planned and spontaneous activities and strong friendships are formed between tamariki and participate in the many opportunities for manaakitanga (hospitality).
Our team can provide positive parenting support though the 'Triple P' programme at no cost, we offer free transport to and from kindergarten in our van, and no tamaiti will go hungry or be excluded for financial reasons.
Come and experience the warmth and wairua permeating all aspects of life at Ruahine Takaro Kindergarten.
Our centre is open Monday to Friday, 8.30am - 2.30pm, and closed over the Christmas and New Year break, as well as three weeks during the year when teachers are engaged in professional development (dates to be advised on enrolment).
Three, four and five year old's may attend our kindergarten up to 30 hours at no charge, a fee of $2.50 (inclusive of GST) is in place for tamariki under 3 years of age, but we may be able to assist you with fees if you have a confidential kanohi ki te kanohi (chat) with Tina our Head Teacher.
