A little about us

Welcome to Our Centre

Kia ora and welcome to Hobsonville Point Early Learning Centre!

Hobsonville Point Early Learning Centre is located in the heart of Hobsonville Point’s vibrant community.  Situated right next door to Hobsonville Point Primary School our purpose built centre is licensed for 80 children aged from 6 months – 5 years.

Our team of qualified and experienced early childhood teachers offer a home away from home, providing the very highest standard in early childhood care and education.  We value play-based learning where we focus on developing, extending and enhancing children’s interests where children take the lead in their learning.

Our architecturally designed building fills each room with natural light and is warm in the winter months with underfloor heating.   Our large outdoor play spaces are well resourced, encouraging exploration and safe physical challenges.

Our on-site chef prepares nutritious cooked meals including plenty of fruit and vegetables.   Food can be tailored to meet individual needs – for instance children with allergies or infants starting solids.

We are an Enviroschools centre, embracing a programme where children and teachers journey together to learn about sustainability practices and taking meaningful action for their own environment.

We have three age appropriate rooms; Pepe, Teina and Tuakana, to cater for children’s learning and development, guided by Te Whāriki our national early childhood curriculum and honouring bicultural perspectives.

Our Pepe room nurtures our youngest tamariki.  We value respectful relationships with children and families, where infants and toddlers are supported to discover and learn at their own pace, within a safe, challenging environment. Teachers follow the rhythm of each child. Infants and toddlers are free to explore and follow their curiosity, using all of their senses to make discoveries within our environment.

Our Teina room continues to empower children to follow their curiosity, explore and learn. Teachers support children to become confident in their identities as learners. For this age in particular, teachers are sensitive to children’s growing desire for independence and nurture self-regulation through consistent, predictable routines and rituals.

In our Tuakana room teachers embrace a dispositional framework for learning, such as being creative and resourceful, fostering resilience and confidence and taking responsibility for their own learning. Children engage in nature walks, exploring the local community. We have a strong connection with the local school, where children are able to participate in regular visits in readiness for when they attend.
