Gisborne Montessori Preschool

Welcome to Gisborne Montessori Pre-school where we have been providing an education philosophy incorporating the internationally accepted principles developed by Dr Maria Montessori since 1985. These principals have been interwoven with the early childhood curriculum Te Whariki. We particularly value the inner discipline that Dr. Montessori advocated as essential to the optimum development of the child. Since each child is treated with respect, gentleness, humour and compassion they learn to extend this to the other children and adults. As the children develop self-discipline they take on the responsibility for the care of their environment and develop a strong sense of community and belonging.
