Portland Kindergarten is situated 10 kilometres south of Whangarei.
We pride ourselves on the location of the Kindergarten, with magnificent views of Mount Manaia, the beautiful Whangarei harbour and a picturesque rural backdrop. Children are able to view ships coming up the harbour, aeroplanes arriving and leaving Whangarei airport and trains servicing the local Portland Cement works.
Portland Kindergarten is situated on the grounds of Portland School giving us access to the school’s playing field and other school facilities.
Children attend from a diverse geographical/rural area. This encompasses Waiotira, Maungakaramea and Mangapai in the southwest, to Maungatapere and Poroti in the west and includes the local communities of Portland and Otaika.
