A little about us

Tiny. Tiny is small, sure. But the world is made of tiny things. Tiny things that make life great.

We believe in empowering our children with the joy of learning. To find a sense of courage, to nurture the love of play and creativity, to find their voice but to hear and understand others too.

Tiny Voices is an early learning centre but it’s also a community hub. A place where people can come together. To be heard and to listen. To play and to relax. A place to learn and a place to teach.

A place where small things make a big difference. Tiny Voices. Our learning journey starts here.

VALUES & GOALS

  • To extend and develop each child’s skills, knowledge and interests through successful experiences which encourage the development of a healthy self-concept and positive self-esteem;
  • To encourage social development so each child learns to interact successfully in a variety of situations
  • To be sensitive and respectful of varied cultural and religious practices;
  • To provide an environment that encourages children to develop their capabilities and interests at their own pace and according to their individual needs;
  • To provide a warm, nurturing and safe environment that encourages the development of the whole child;
  • To be a support to all families in all aspects of each child’s development;
  • To ensure that communication will be a two way process, which recognizes parents as the primary care givers;

T I N Y  P H I L O S O P H Y

At Tiny Voices Wellington our tamariki are at the centre of all we do. We celebrate diversity through our inclusive practice that is supported by Te whāriki, our New Zealand curriculum and guided by Te Tiriti o Waitangi

We are proud of our environment that is stimulating, provocative and inviting. Our outside spaces provide tamariki with opportunities to embrace all that Papatūānuku has to offer, including our vegetable gardens and our forest Kindy. Our inside spaces are filled with a sense of home and comfort. We support uninterrupted, child-led play and encourage tamariki to work alongside each other and their Kaiako, learning and discovering together. Our practice is respectful, positive and we value our relationships with our tamariki, whānau and community.

We recognise the importance of community and the influencing role it plays in the lives of our tamariki; therefore, we provide unique experiences such as outings to the local shops and parks and we invite the community to visit us with dance, yoga and pets, all of which enhance a sense of belonging, connection and a willingness to contribute.

We provide a safe environment that protects and nurtures the wellbeing of our tamariki with opportunity for freedom of movement in both our inside and outside environments. We offer opportunities for physical and mental risk taking that will build confidence and self-esteem within our tamariki.

We understand it is essential that our tamariki are nourished to face the challenges of the day, so nutritious, seasonal meals are prepared by our cook and opportunities for rest and to recharge are offered by our caring Kaiako.

We, the team of Wellington Tiny Voices, are here to ensure that our tamariki see themselves as strong, competent and capable individuals, ready to embrace all the world has to offer and to face their future with a love for learning.

He taonga te mokopuna, kia whangaia, kia tipu, kia rea (A child is a treasure, to be nurtured, to grow, to flourish).
