A little about us

Kia Orana and Welcome to the Punanga – your child’s home away from home. Here at the Punanga we are committed to ensuring all those who enter through our doors feel at home as part of an extended family environment.

Our service focuses on preserving and supporting the Cook Islands Language & Culture. We pride ourselves on our commitment to your child’s safety and comfort, as we realise that a sense of physical and emotional security is an essential foundation for growth and development.

The Centre caters for children from six months to five years. Our curriculum offers integration of age groups. The children’s learning and play contributes in developing their social skills. Establishing relationships and friendships provides the children at the Centre with a sense of belonging.

We acknowledge the value and guidance available in ‘Te Whariki’ early childhood curriculum, and the unique partnership under the Treaty of Waitangi.

We believe in providing quality early childhood education based on training, experience and ensure the ongoing development of all staff

We believe in the notion of supporting Tuakana and Teina. Our environment supports mixed aged interactions between infants, toddlers and young children at certain times with teacher guidance. (Royal Tangere)

Why choose Te Punanga Childcare Centre?

The children’s voice and their individual strengths and interests lie at the heart of our philosophy. We will promote Cook Island Language and Culture to encourage and promote the positive identity of the children. We believe that the value of free play for a significant part of the day. Children learn through play and we will provide an environment where children can engage in exploration to extend their learning and development.
