Kia ora and welcome to Active Explorers Kaiapoi. We’re a purpose-built early learning centre in the heart of Beach Grove, offering quality care and education for pēpi, toddlers, and young tamariki. With big open spaces, a nature-based focus, and a child-led philosophy, every day here is a new adventure.
About Active Explorers Kaiapoi
At Active Explorers Kaiapoi, we believe tamariki thrive when they feel respected, valued, and free to explore at their own pace. Our philosophy is built around independence, communication, strong relationships, and a deep respect for each child’s learning journey.
Our centre is full of inviting spaces, from large indoor rooms to a big outdoor play area that backs onto a local reserve. Tamariki love our bike track, sandpit, climbing dome, veggie gardens, fruit trees, and relaxing hammock chairs.
We welcome children from birth to five years, with three rooms tailored to each age and stage. Daily life includes regular outings to local parks and the library, nature play, sports sessions, and visits to nearby schools to help older children transition confidently into the next chapter of their learning.
Our Spaces
Our environment is open, natural, and designed for discovery. Tamariki are free to move, play, and learn through hands-on experiences like climbing, digging, planting, and creating. Every space encourages imagination and supports social and emotional growth.
Explorers Room (0-2 years)
This calm, nurturing space supports our littlest learners through loving care and familiar routines. Explorers have plenty of room to move, discover, and feel safe. It’s all about building trust, confidence, and connection in a peaceful, sensory-rich environment.
Adverturers Room (2-3.5 years)
Our Adventurers are on the move and full of curiosity. This room offers a mix of guided learning and free play, helping toddlers develop communication skills, independence, and strong friendships. There’s always something new to explore, indoors and out.
Discoverers Room (3.5-5years)
Discoverers are busy preparing for their next big step. This space supports deeper thinking, problem-solving, and teamwork through projects, imaginative play, and real-world learning. With regular visits to local schools and teacher connections, tamariki are well supported as they transition to kura.
