- Love Learning, Love Life.
Our rooms
At Active Explorers Swanson our areas are named after one of our Native birds.
- Ko te manu e kai ana i te miro nōnā te ngahere
- Ko te manu e kai ana i te mātauranga nōnā te ao
- The bird that consumes the miro berry owns the forest
- The bird that consumes knowledge owns the world
Piwakawaka (Infant area)
Like our infant tamariki the piwakawaka is the smallest of our birds however while they may be small they are full of character and grow and adapt in their surroundings.
Piwakawaka (Infant 1): 3 months to 16 months
Piwakawaka Nui (Infant 2): 16 months to 2 years
Kea (toddler area):
The characteristics of a Kea and a toddler are very similar as they are both very curious, playful and social by nature
Kea iti (Toddler 1): 2 to 3years
Kea Nui (Toddler 2): 3 to 3.10years
Kereru (preschool area)
The Kereru is a large and strong bird with a strong flying ability and assist with the regeneration of the native forests through their ability to spread the need seeds. Our preschool tamariki like the kereru are spreading their strong wings and when they leave us, they are taking their knowledge out into the world.
