At our Auckland campus, Ko Taku Reo offers a specialist preschool setting for children who are Deaf and hearing to learn alongside each other.
Our programme is based on the children’s strengths, interests and needs with a strong focus on developing communication skills using New Zealand Sign Language (NZSL) and/or English.
Delivered by qualified teachers and Deaf role models, the programme encourages communication development in natural interactions between adults and children aged 2 to 5 years.
We believe our programme operates at its best when we work in partnership with parents and other people involved with families. Sharing information about what happens in the home and the preschool provides a strong basis for developing consistency in the children’s lives.
