New Shoots Pakuranga/Botany Childcare Centre

New Shoots early childhood centre is a beautiful, boutique home away from home nestled conveniently between Pakuranga, Botany and Highland Park. From the scent of home cooking to the sound of giggling children, our purpose-built centre delights the senses the moment you walk through the door.

New Shoots Pakuranga is proudly part of Enviroschools – an environment action-based programme with a kaupapa of empowering tamariki to create a healthy, peaceful and sustainable planet through learning and collective action.

Our community garden encourages hands-on discovery in nature, Māori perspectives, and respect for the diversity of people and culture. Our large outdoor play area gives children plenty of freedom to take the lead and explore in their own unique way.

There are logs to climb and pathways to bike along, but, hands down, our three-tiered sandpit is the favourite! In the great outdoors, toddlers and preschoolers blossom and learn from one another as they connect with Papatūānuku.

Inside, our passionate kaiako believe in the power of play and tailor each room to the needs of our growing tamariki. With infants, we are focused on nurturing relationships as they quite literally find their feet. Older children can join Kelly Sports – fun, weekly group lessons that target gross motor skills. And preschoolers can opt into Forest Kindy, an outdoor exploration programme that transforms children into confident, resilient and independent young people.

Our diverse community is reflected in events we host throughout the year, from Matariki to Chinese New Year to Grandparents’ Day. These special community events bring us together through connection, food and shared cultural experiences.

Trinity Kindergarten

Welcome to Trinity Kindergarten! We hope that your association with us will be a long and happy one. Trinity Kindergarten aims to develop a healthy mind, body and spirit in every child. We strive to build a sense of belonging for the child and their entire family. We base our programme upon the principles of the Christian faith to ensure that all children get the opportunity to experience Christianity in their daily lives. We will always treat your child with the utmost love, care and respect and we role model this behaviour in all of our interactions.

Trinity Kindergarten is a non-profit organisation and a registered charity managed by a Trust. We are privileged to be situated on the grounds of the beautiful Trinity Methodist Church in Pakuranga. At Trinity Kindergarten we maintain the lowest teacher: child ratios possible because we value one-on-one and small group interactions with each and every child. All of our teachers are fully qualified and registered and we all undergo regular professional development and maintain full First Aid certification at all times.

Our kindergarten provides a nurturing, safe and caring environment as an extension of your own home environment.  We want your child to “grow up as a competent and confident learner and communicator, healthy in mind, body and spirit, secure in their sense of belonging and in the knowledge that they make a valued contribution to society” in accordance with the principles of the New Zealand Early Childhood Curriculum, Te Whāriki.

We understand that your child’s education and care is a priority and that choosing the right centre can be a big decision. We would be delighted to share in your child’s learning journey. You’re welcome to call or visit anytime.

We are open 7.00am – 6.00pm Monday to Friday.

Our Environment

At Busy Bees Pakuranga, we believe that as an early learning, we have an important part to play in our local community and a very special opportunity to positively impact the lives of our young tamariki in their early stages of development. We promote the development of active and confident learners who think, question, seek information and apply knowledge to the best of their ability. We have a beautiful large outdoor space, with age-appropriate area. The spaces are well-resourced for the development of each age group.

Our Rooms

Our space is made up of six rooms, supporting children at each age and stage as they progress.

Seedlings and Saplings – (0-2 years): Our nurturing environment is focused on fostering routines and building relationships. We facilitate age-appropriate learning and development opportunities for your little ones and work alongside you.

Sprouts – (3-4 years) In Sprouts we create an engaging and enriching learning experience tailored to the needs of this age group. Our focus is on ensuring equitable learning for all children as they actively explore and navigate their educational journey.

Shoots – (4-5 years) We offer a transition-to-school program that extends your little ones’ knowledge and introduces them to concepts and experiences they may encounter in a school setting.

Additionally, our centre features a separate Montessori-inspired room, where we seamlessly integrate Montessori principles and curriculum with our Te Whariki ECE curriculum, providing a holistic and well-rounded educational experience.

Regular Excursions

We offer regular visits to the library and our local primary school as part of incorporating our localised curriculum. We are also fortunate to have our very own mini hall, that we visit during centre operational hours to extend various learning experiences for our children.

Celebrations

We proudly celebrate all cultures that make up our centre community. We do this by recognising each individual child, their home and where they come from, and we incorporate these into our day-to-day centre curriculum. This is all part of developing a sense of belonging. We take pride in small centre traditions such as farewells when children are 5 and off to school!

Farm Cove Kindergarten

At Farm Cove Kindergarten our vision is to create a community of learners in an environment of care and respect. Our environment is unique and provokes creativity, sustainability and inspirational thinking.

Our outdoor area is natural and allows children opportunities to explore the environment, climb, run and use their imagination

Literacy, numeracy and science concepts are appropriately and purposefully integrated throughout the programme at Farm Cove Kindergarten.

Farm Cove Kindergarten is situated next to Wakaaranga Primary School.  We are involved with the junior department of Wakaranga and visit the school for special events.

We also have children going on to other schools in the area.  Sunnyhills Primary, St Marks, Pigeon Mt Primary, Elm Park Primary.

Farm Cove kindergarten has four fully early childhood qualified and registered teachers.  Our kaiako/teachers are dedicated to, and passionate about Early Childhood Education, and to the wellbeing, and education of the tamariki/children.  Our quality learning programme is based on the New Zealand Early Childhood Curriculum, Te Whãriki.

Our learning philosophy

For the past 110 years, the Auckland Kindergarten Association has been igniting young minds by encouraging them to explore their imaginations through play. For many of us, kindergarten was where we began our life of learning; it was where we started learning skills like sharing, tolerance, patience, respect and self-confidence.

We view children as capable, competent, life-long learners, and our philosophy encourages children to make their own learning choices, problem-solve and observe and explore at their own pace…with support from teachers, parents, wider whānau and their peers. We value the importance of child-initiated, play-based experiences. Our kindergarten teachers nurture your children’s interests and natural curiosity by working alongside them, expanding language and introducing mathematical and science concepts, as well as literacy, digital technology and sustainable practices.

Our centres have gardens and natural outdoor spaces where children can create, explore, be imaginative and expressive. There’s plenty of room to safely run about, being imaginative and physically active. In fact, the natural world is essential to free-range play. AKA encourages each kindergarten community to explore and enrich their diversity and uniqueness. Some have regular excursions into the local community; some are Enviroschool kindergartens that live and breathe sustainable practices; while others engage in long-term research on child interest-based programmes of learning.

As an organisation, we formally acknowledge the dual heritage of Aotearoa / New Zealand, and work to uphold the spirit and intent of Te Tiriti o Waitangi in each kindergarten. We are accessible, secular and welcoming to the wide diversity of tamariki and whānau who attend our centres, and value ongoing partnerships between teaching teams and leadership staff with families and whānau. We value ongoing learning for teachers, parents and whānau, and the sharing of knowledge, skills and attributes is fundamental to achieving the best learning outcomes for children. Teachers and staff can access collegial professional time to ensure that quality practice is enhanced so current theories of learning and development within New Zealand’s world-class Te Whāriki early childhood curriculum are shared and understood.

Pakuranga-Rahihi Playcentre

Nau mai, haere mai and welcome to Pakuranga-Rahihi Playcentre

Playcentre is unlike any other early childhood education organisation. At Playcentre, both children and their parents / caregivers attend.

At Playcentre children get the opportunity to learn and explore in a fun and safe environment.

The curiosity and creativity of our tamariki is nurtured in a way that allows them to learn about themselves and their world.

Your child will be given a chance to explore, create, climb, read, sing, experiment, play music, wear costumes, have their face painted (or do it themselves!), garden, do carpentry with real tools, bake and cook, build sandcastles, swing, slide, dance, spend time in nature and get messy.

The activities change every day. Playcentre parents all bring different skills, interests, and cultural backgrounds to add to the rich learning environment.

We welcome families with children aged 0 – 6 years. Mixed age play allows your children to engage with others older and younger than themselves. Pre-schoolers learn how to communicate, share and negotiate with empathy for their younger peers.

At Playcentre, families come together and lifelong friendships are formed.

We welcome you to visit any time during the year. You are entitled to three free visits so come and check out what we do – we would love to meet you and your family!

Laugh and Learn

Laugh and Learn is a privately owned, small purposely built centre designed for children aged 3 months to 6 years old.

We aim to be a ""home away from home"" for your child with a safe, exciting and nurturing environment with high-quality hand-selected resources.  Our location is in heart of Pakuranga, on Cascades Rd backing onto Lloyd Elsmore Park.

Our Environment

Laugh and Learn has been designed and created by a team of experienced architects, engineers, early childhood consultants and Tania (Laugh and Learn's Director and a NZ qualified early childhood teacher) to ensure that the environment facilitates children's play and learning and caters for children of all ages and abilities.

We have two rooms:

'Tiny Tuis' room is for ages 3 months to approximately 2 years old and has an average teacher to child ratio of 1:3 and a maximum of 10 tamariki (children).

'Kooky Kiwi's' room is for ages 2 years old to 5 years old and has an average teacher to child ratio of 1:8 and a maximum of 24 children.

Our outdoor play area is a child's paradise where they can become scientists, explorers, creators and leaders in our nature inspired play space. It is a shared space for children of all ages to play together and learn together.

Both our indoor and outdoor play space's are equipped with a large variety of high quality resources which have been hand selected to ignite wonder, curiosity and imagination. Where possible we promote the use of natural resources and support New Zealand made products.

Settling You Child

Having your child/children starting in a new environment can be an anxious experience for both you and them, Some children take this step with confidence, others find it overwhelming and confusing.

Where possible we would encourage that any new children have at least three transition visits where you can come to the centre and spend time visiting alongside your child, giving them a chance to explore and become familiar with the centre and our staff.

It is also an opportunity for you to talk to our team about your child, their routine, interests, strengths, your aspirations and family values. meaningful interactions, experiences, and relationships.

We are an eco-friendly, holistic childcare centre located in Pakuranga.

We look after children up to five years of age at our Early Learning Centre. We take all possible measures to ensure that our day-care environment offers the best for our children, with locally grown, healthy food, non-toxic products and resources, and a teaching program that helps to develop children’s understanding of how to live in harmony with nature and all living beings around them.f anything new or spontaneous pops up, we also capitalise on these moments.

What we strive to do

We strive to develop children’s well-being by adopting a holistic teaching approach in our learning program. We do this by focusing on nurturing the emotional, physical, mental and social nature of every child in our care. We offer meaningful learning experiences in a nurturing, caring environment where children can feel safe and loved. Our goal is to carefully nurture and foster the physical, emotional, mental and social nature of our children, to allow them to unfold at their own pace in a healthy way. We believe in creating a peaceful environment that allows each child to learn through hands-on and meaningful experiences with people and the world around them.

Learning

Children learn through their play, adventures, interactions and exploration.

Our childcare’s daily program focuses on building social and emotional skills through play-based activities, physical development through movement and exercise, and creativity by incorporating the arts and music.

Our learning program is play-based. We believe this can help with fostering independence, building your child’s character and individuality while maintaining consistent expectations and boundaries.

Welcome to Pakuranga Learning Centre

Smiles are not only contagious, but a warm face and voice help children feel safe and families feel comfortable.

At Pakuranga Learning Centre, we welcome all children and families with a smile, open arms, and enthusiasm. With an open-door policy, parents are welcome to stay and spend time with their children whenever they want.

Our goal is to provide guidance and developmentally appropriate learning experiences that set foundational skills for healthy growth and development in our children. The focus of these experiences is sensory, physical, language, music, art, all learned through “child-initiated play.”

We make it a high priority to help children acquire good self-image and promote an “I can do it” attitude. It is our goal to provide an environment that makes children feel at home and welcomed. In our program, children will feel supported as they engage with new ideas and learning.

Our program is inspired by nature and sustainability. We believe that children should guide their own learning through experiences of touching, moving, listening, and observing.

Your child will have immense opportunities of using natural and recycled resources indoors as well as outdoors.

Regular excursions, nature walks, and community interaction are part of our curriculum. We believe that through nature children think, question and make hypothesis thereby developing inquisitive minds.

Our Centre environment gives children endless ways and opportunities to express themselves

Why Choose Us?

We are a 'home away from home' where we prepare your child emotionally, intellectually, and socially for the future. We have a qualified close-knit team of nurturing and professional educators who collaborate with parents, caregivers, and whanau to meet the needs of your children.

We acknowledge and celebrate the diversity of our community and embrace the different ethnic, linguistic and socio-cultural backgrounds from which our children come.

At Pakuranga Learning Centre, we aim to promote the learning and development of your child/ren by encouraging deliberate and thoughtful interactions through spontaneous, planned and play-based learning.

Riverhills Early Learning Centre

At Riverhills Early Learning Centre our foremost belief is in Whanau (family). Our most important approach to teaching and learning is to ensure that our families experience a sense of belonging. Our tamariki (children) feel safe and secure the moment they walk through the doors of our Early Learning Centre.

We have a team of passionate and dedicated professional teachers who are open, friendly, fun and exciting individuals. We believe in helping each other, providing positive guidance, extending one's learning through professional development and a commitment to succeeding in being a great teacher. We follow this by the Fish Philosophy in the Workplace. The fish philosophy has four key principles: Choose Your Attitude, Be Present for others, Play at work, laugh, dance, have fun and Make Their Day by including others in your fun working environment.

We value collaboration as vital to the success of our programme and see ourselves as a multi-cultural ‘community of learners’. We also embrace a bi-cultural curriculum in collaboration with our whanau. We further believe that children are confident and capable learners; that begins at birth. Being a mixed aged centre our curriculum supports children to set the pace for their own learning and develop according to individual and group interests. Along with the use of Te Whāriki, we incorporate aspects of the RIE Philosophy and the Reggio Emilia Approach into our programme.
